70.5 Spell Mission

I play a Magician as my main character and I REALLY wanted to get my Raging Servant pet, so I put a lot of time into trying to figure out how to cheat my way through this mission. Siddin and I play 5 accounts which we are trying to build up to be worth a damn since most of our old crew got banned around this time last year, so in the meantime we have to bust ass just to do what most would call trivial. Because our toons are significantly undergeared we could not do this mission as it is intended to be done, but we DID find a way to pull it off all the same. Here is what we did that earned us a mission win here.

Shroud someone into a Kobold Cleric or use the group's cleric. Only the cleric should zone in to begin the mobs from the eggs seem to have some funky zone-wide aggro and will warp to anyone in the zone and kill them. Once the cleric is in, use the Divine Aura and warp to each egg to open it, then /gate out. Knowing the locs to warp to ahead of time is useful, but a /warp target hotkey works as well. Once all the eggs are opened, the mobs will path back to the eggs and stay there while not aggro'd. Once all eggs are opened and non-aggro the group can zone into the mission and warp up to the boss area. Zone in is far enough from the egg that you will be able to zone in without getting aggro from the mobs sitting at the egg.

Pull Vish from downstairs up to the top of the ramp. No tricky pulling methods are required thanks to the slow movement of the shades in Vish's room. Just tag him and run up the ramp waiting. The other mobs are so slow Vish gets up there alone and you can /fade after he is tagged. Vish spends a lot of time casting so he is not too hard to take down, we managed him quite easily with a 10k 1500ac buffed warrior and a 6k mana cleric. We went all out DPS on him with 2x mages and 1x ranger. When we killed him, we got a zone emote about besting the blades of the librarians and knew we were onto something as that is the kill message from killing the blades in the egg.

Apparently when the eggs are opened and you kill Vish, the coding assumes you killed the most recent egg spawn because *normally* you cannot open the eggs without killing the previous eggs, and somehow it thinks all the egg spawns are dead, and yet you also get credit for killing Vish. The kicker is that Vish has a respawn in this zone of 1 hour. Just hang out in the top room on the side and wait for him to respawn, when he does, you kill him again and apparently the mission thinks you killed Draygun because you get a mission update and cursor loots! Siddin and I did kill Draygun twice while waiting just to farm his loots, but I do not think it is neccesary as neither time we did kill him did we get any kind of task update, we did get task updates both times we killed Vish however.

Good luck with this one and I hope it works for you as well as it worked for us. If this post is at all helpfull to you, toss the Red Cent at Tone, or Z, or any of the other great coders that gave us the tools to pull this off.

Good work!

Questions:
What were the names of the eggs to target and how many eggs did you have to open?. /tar egg1?
Can you open all the eggs with a 15 Sec DA or did it take multiple attempts?

Thanks

you have to use /doortarget as they are doors not mobs or chests, etc.

So we use /doortarget and warp to it and that opens an egg? How many of these eggs are there?

Well, the eggs are 'technicly' doors as they vansih with /toggledoors. So, if you have doors toggled to be hidden, you will not see them. There are three eggs, one of them is in the room you zone into, the other two are in nearby rooms surrounded by skeleton looking mobs which are non-aggro. I just popped DA, clicked the first egg, then right clicked and warped to the skeleton mobs in the room with the other eggs and turn to click the egg. You should be able to do it on one DA if you are quick, but if it takes more than one, it's no big deal it will not adversely effect this strategy.

Do you only have to complete 70.5 to get your 70 spell? I know in PoR, the last mission of the spell mission arcs is all thats needed to get the spell, but I thought you had to complete all the DoD spell missions to get your reward. Has this been changed or did I misread your post while engaging in wishful thinking?

No, no, no, I have done all the missions in this arc, 70.1, 70.2, 70.3, 70.4, and THEN 70.5 to finish. I got invited to groups doing 70.1 and 70.2 hoping to farm the chest loots, 70.3 is a monster mission so that was easy, 70.4 you can get outside help with, but 70.5 I could not find anyone doing that mission so I was going to have to figure out a way to do it myself. This is what I came up with to beat 70.5 with what resources I had available to me. I realize it isnt as quick or easy as some people would like, but it is a shortcut nonetheless, so I posted it here in hopes it might be helpfull to someone.

Not sure I understand the last step. Once you open the eggs, do you only need to kill Vish to get a win? or do you have to kill all the egg mobs to be ported out? Basically what is the minimum required to get out and hail for the win?

The minimum we did for the win would be:

1) Open all three eggs (no need to kill the mobs inside them).
2) Pull and kill Vish.
3) Wait 1 hour for Vish to respawn
4) Pull and kill Vish again.
5) /gate and hail.

This was before the latest patch, we have not tried it since the patch. It worked at one time, though I cannot personally verify that it works still. You will not get chest loot, but you should get the mission win and the cursor loot.

can you get this mission via mq2don or does somone have to complete 70.4 first to get it?

you should be able to get the mission via mq2tdon

This is basically how I run the mission. Sometimes when I am in a hurry though and I actually want to complete it again for some reason, I will
1) open all three eggs
2) Pull and Kill Vish
3) Kill named at top ( can't remember name )
4) Pull blade mob. That completes the mission. That way you don't have to wait a full hour.

Ofcourse, if you are at farm status now, then just kill the named after opening the eggs ( if you want ) Then wait the given time, and kill named again.

There are two nameds. The one at the top of the stairs is easy. The other (red con) is a bit tougher for my group.

Good luck and have fun!

Can Vish be tanked by a 11k 1.5k ac bst with a druid heals or am I gonna need a cleric/war? This is badly needed by my 3 box

Maybe, not sure. It isnt that hard but Id get a tank for this. More hps and AC wouldnt hurt. I had a 12k tank do it and we had minor problems but not to many. We came back and won.

Make a hot key like this for a tank:

/target <Insert Blade Mob Name Here>
/warp target
/target <Insert Group Member Name Here>
/warp target
/attack on

They will usally warp right on top of ya..

Zone in, open the first orb. The mobs will spawn..Soon as they pop out have tank grab on and mez/kite the other 2. Once they are dead i usally do the WEST door first then east. After you open each door there is a roamer.

*Just remember EVERYTHING is slow moving and will warp if you get to far away and they have a huge hit box*

Kill the roamers, go to the rooms and click the egg to spawn the blade namer. Dont even worry about the stupid skeletons. They dont hit you.

Little tip for when you click the egg.

Make a hot key like:

/target <Insert Person Of Group Here>
/warp target
/attack on
Hit that as soon as you open the egg. Running back can be a problem sometimes so I just warp and use that hot key.

After you kill the eggs you can find and kill the namer..Pretty simple.

Namer casts spells. Enrages, Rampages..Most of the shit most mobs on his level do. Pull him with dispell (Usally has 3-4 buffs on him..Necro/Sk type buffs) Than slow/debuff him after all of that is done..

Enjoy!

The names of the blade mobs are:

Vampiric Blades has 2 procs.

First one is: Shadowed Curse of Mori - Increase curse counter by 30 and decrease hitpoints by 639 per tick. Lasts 5 ticks and has a resist check of magic (-30)

Second one is: Shadowed Dark Hold - Mesmerize(2/70) - Single target spell and lasts 5 ticks also. Has a resist check of Magic (-10)

The second blade name mob is:

The Harvester of Souls, This guy comes with 3 different procs. They hit around 1300-1500s max. BOTH OF THEM..

The 3 procs are:

Shadowed Core Fire - Decrease hitpoints by 4070 - nuke spell and has a resist check of Fire (-10)

Second is Shadowed Corona Flare - This is also another fire nuke which decreases hitpoints by 3770 and has a resist check of Fire (-10)

His third and last proc spell is Shadowed Meteor Storm - This is a Targeted AE. Does 886 damage and has a resist check of Fire (-300)

Hope this helps you people out!

Pretty much what ever one else says and does it about all you need to do. The mobs do warp to you and I found it best to keep all of your players at the zone-in room. Have the tank warp to the blades and back to your group. Need to be fast, those blades hit fast and some what hard if you think about it.

The namer dude...Vish..Is in a room with guards.. Cast invis on your tank have him warp to the namer and run up the ramp that is in his room. Have everyone else warp to the top of the ramp. Read the first post to find out how to pull/kill him.

Very nice walkthrough. One thing I thought I'd add, is that you cannot fall off the walkways, or at least I didn't when doing this mission, and that if mobs get pushed off the walkways, they'll pop right back on top of them. Falling was a big worry for me when I was killing the 3 mobs from the first room right outside on the walkway, but it turned out to work just fine, so that might be an easier option than mezzing/kiting the 3 mobs from the first egg......and if all this sounds just too confusing, just get your group, get the mission, and zone in and explore it a bit and all will become clear. Its really alot easier to complete than I expected from the final 70 spell mission....if only 69.4 was so easy!
