Hi, i have 2 computers that i use for EQ. I was wondering if there was a way to get my MQ2 characters on one of my computers to be able to interact/at least let my main computer be MA without stuff screwing up. I dont want to download/use MQ on the main computer for various reasons.

Solution
Mq doesn't care about other computers etc but and large.

There is some "data" that might not be shared, depending on how/what you're doing.

But 1 PC can be using mq and another PC not using mq and the mq PC is still doing automation.

Some stuff might require local toons on same PC for checking buffs (like cwtn plugins), and other stuff might use dannet for local or other computers - since your main PC isn't going to be using mq, that type of information won't be shared obviously

havent tried it yet, but from what i read of your post. My MQ2 shammy/ect wont buff the characters on the other computer IN the same group? Mostly using 2 computers to hopefully lower any chances of main accounts getting banned over the others actually using it.

you can use the buffme commands, search in the search bar for buffme and that should help. I box the same way, main PC nothing but all the goodies on my 2nd PC.

Some folks would argue (with cause and reason) this doesn't help you as much as you think it does. But we're not gonna turn this into a baspend conversation.

Well I did address that specifically - keep in mind for buffing and a few other things,na toon being able to be "seen" or "communicate" is the only way you can reliably get that info.

I, personally, don't think you're getting the mileage from it you think you are, and just lowering your enjoyment and increasing your difficulty

Yep, mq2buffme is a specific solution.

I agree that running on two computers does indeed change the full MQ2 dynamic, but as someone that temporarily lost a couple of toons that are almost as old as EQ, that is now how I'm running.

I know that most people on here don't have any actual emotional attachment to their toons - they lose some and just create new ones and go from there. I have four very specific toons that have "birthdays" literally from 2000 and 2001 - I've invested a lot of time, effort and care into their growth and am very hesitant to lose them, ha ha.

The bots I run on my second computer are literally just that - bots. I've been lucky since starting back with RG launcher that I've not run into a single instance of possible loss, but in the event it ever comes to that then they are easily replaceable.

Just my 2:rc

Alrighty, they ARE assisting my main computer, but even with "buffme" on, im getting no targeted buffs on my character. As far as i can tell, im also not getting healed. I have (on each of the 2nd computer) characters have the main character on extended target window as "group tank spot" the buffing i can go manual for the long buffs, but would suck on shammy panther line ect. But, not getting healed is a Big deal. Is there something im missing, or am i totally screwed and cannot use a character on a different pc w/o mq for basically anything? Thanks!

No offense, but I think your setup is not worth the hassle, when you use your bots as mercs with your main actively playing with them - even when on a different PC. DBG can and already has associated your "clean" main to those bots by numerous effective and battleproven methods.

Safe yourself the hassle and load as many toons on both PCs as they can handle and enjoy your crew slaying those dragons.

Edit: When i used a similiar setup to yours, i wrote myself a little Lua for sham and bst to buff the out of group main toons.

Edit 2: iirc, there is a video on youtube where sic explains xtar healing. Just check out his Youtube channel

I have to agree, been a few yrs but was lucky enough to only get a suspension but basically the email said we linked these other toons in 1 way or another so suspending them all. So email, CC info, IP address ect ect ect can all link them together and they really don't care otherwise. The statement was clear, we have evidence of use on one account so we assume its used on all. No issues since using the MQ launcher so heres to hoping.

I prefer modbot myself which runs all the communication through EQBCserver. I recently moved the BCserver from my eq system to a RPi and communication between toons still works fine, if the server isnt running all communication stops.

What is this MQ Launcher? I just start the redguides launcher -> Very Vanilla -> Launch MQ with the tiny tiny button below the "Reinstall MQ" button

I use the uncompiled version from github myself. Gives me more options for which plugins and any code changes I may want to make. But the RG version also has it. Right click the MQ icon in the taskbar and there are options to set up account/toons to launch directly. ESP handy for launching multiple instances in one click. It bypases the patcher and goes diretly into the game. There 2 separate programs. The game itself doesnt do any patching. I have seen speculation that the patcher is what looks for EULA violating programs and reports them. Take it for what its worth.
