Hey Sic, CWTN;

I'm wondering if you guys would consider adding a button for adds to your plugins, What I mean is:

let's say for example I'm in firefall pass, I'm having a good ole time having my tank pull stuff, but ever so often it will pull, and 2 or more will aggro (2 is handled easily, this is mainly for when 3 or more come).. if I don't have a mezzer then I have to try and switch windows to another toon set them to manual, then target the first add, then go back to settng them to tank.. and so on if i had 3, I'd then target the 2nd add with another toon..

What I've found is that if all three mobs are attacking the tank, and the tank dies, once rezzed the adds will kill the healer, and will wipe out the crew if I don't have a mezzer.. but if I target, lets say the 3rd add with my other toons my tank and the others handle the main pull... now of course that isn't an issue with the bard, or chanty but sometimes I'm not using either of them, or the mobs aren't mezzable.

so my suggestion would be like this...

1) add a section maybe crowd control, put the switch with ma, target adds., and engage when adds reach 1,2,3,4 ect.
2) add a drop down that that says something like "target add", then it will have maybe 1 - 5 as a drop down list.
3 add a drop down that says something like, "engage when adds reach 1 -5, as a drop down list.
4) keep the switch with ma, unless you have it targeting 2nd, 3rd, or 4th add. but once it's down to the number set by "Engage when adds reach 1 - 5"" they will then switch back to assist ma or mt.

in this example I'm pulling..

1) I know my crew can handle 2 with no problem, but when 3 come it gets hairy..
2) I set engage when adds reach, to 3
3) Once the "engage when adds" reaches 3 I want 1 or 2 of my toons to attack the 3rd add if another should aggro.. so I set the zerk, and the Bst to attack the 3rd add, and they will stick to that target. (if more should come)
4) once the other 4 have killed the mt or ma's first target, and the engage when adds reach X is under X, they all switch back to assist ma.

I hope what I've written makes sense.. but I've had 4 mobs come at once knowing we can only handle 2, and I would move 1 toon to the 3rd add, and one to the 4th and have survived.. but if they all stayed attacking the same target the whole crew would die.

Solution
no, we don't have any plans to do anything like that.

your priest/casters are going to follow your MA at all times. your melee toons you can turn off switchwithma if you don't want them to switch when you switch targets - they will stay on target until it is dead (unless buffing another toon like with bst, for example).

if you need/want to do something like that - be in manual mode, and call for your toons to attack when you want them to - or wait to give them a target until you have the amount of mobs you want.

we won't be adding a "wait until xyz amount of mobs are on xtarget" or any of the other things you mentioned.

This sounds like a team management situation, not a plugin option need.

if you are in a tanking mode, you are not...

if you are in a tanking mode, you are not target locked and can freely swap around to target whatever you need.

you should consider just having the toons you are trying to offtank do something like target the mob in xtarget 2 slot (or whatever number you want) and have them engage it, and then the mob you want dps'd down as your MA and your dps can follow you as you direct them to fight the mob you want dead the most.

Solution
as a quick tidbit - this is one of those requests that, from my point of view, appears to be "problem exists and this is the solution i have come up with to address it" - which is why i encourage folks to say "hey i'm trying to do xyz, but i'm failing because abc reasons, what is a solution?" instead of coming up with an alternative way the plugins should exist/operate/etc. this doesn't mean i'm right, nor does it mean you're wrong, it doesn't even necessarily mean that i fully understand what you're trying to express - in this instance i think i understand pretty well what you're asking for.

there are a lot of reasons why xtarget count for purposes of engagement are not a great idea, but i also don't think it solves your problem in the way you think it does - and i don't think it would broadly apply in the way it is laid out for others.

we very specifically try, not always successful (useswimfix) to make things as hands-off and intuitive as possible

if i was looking to solve your problem, the "off-tank" I would just direct them with dannet with something like a /dex coolguy /target id ${Me.XTarget[3].ID} if i wanted coolguy to switch targets to xtarget 3 slot

some previous suggestions:

hope those things help
