Question - When do you go gold?

For those of you that level up a F2P account to box with... When do you go gold to get the aa's you want? Do you wait until 100/105, or do it sooner?

You should be gold always, but if you don't want to I would stop at lv 90 when you stop getting auto-grant AA. Getting 6k+ AA's for free is a huge deal and would take months to get yourself.

I went gold at 100 on my crew, but regretted doing so. If I do it again, I'll likely gold the dps around level 80, caster crits adds way more dps than you would think, will really save you a lot of time. BST focused paragon really changes what you can do with the bst over a grind session, etc...


I'd go as long as possible without it on the tank/healer/ench though - if your group is staying alive, don't worry about it. If your having trouble with current content, do the tank first and see how it goes.

I'm kinda thinking I should have done that... I've got lvl 94 Heroic Sk/Cleric/Chanter so the guts of the operation are running smoothly, but I think my 3x F2P wizzy's need the help goin boom...

I think around level 95 the autogrant covers all the AAs it can get. That said, I usually take them gold around level 90 so that I can actually use them. I'll auto-grant them, then finish out the levels to 100 and then use the rest of the month to get AA. If you get them TDS, then leveling and AA grinding is fast with DH HAs.

They will kill slooooowly

I have a 100 SK with a 100 Wiz and 100 druid. Add in a 95ish Cleric and Enchanter and a 92 Shaman and they just kill so very slow. It's safe, the tank can handle it... just not fast. They were leveling faster in the ROF T2 Zones and in Beast's Domain.

Maybe I'll just pop some Kronos and grind out a bit longer in grounds till I get the aa's I need...

I have my Main(Tank) Gold but the rest I use Kronos for. After the Grounds I went to Beast's Domain and leveled my groups AA's.

There are some guides on here for the spots. One of the spots has several named (the 2 hedges and the dog Nighthowl) that are very difficult. But good for farming cantrips if you need them. I rarely see anyone in the zone unless they are passing to Evantil.

I do F2P with several accounts and started buying Krono at about level 70. I rotate through my main accounts every couple months. The AA's really make a big difference, both melee and casters. Please bear in mind I only play a few hours per week and do not AFK so my best group as only mid-80's.

if its a toon that I just have parked doing nothing its 100.
but if I have a reason to use it around 95 ish for aa grind.
