Question - voicetell "help"

/rez voice off

MQ2Rez just got a sweet overhaul and some stuff that was broken / working less than expected got fixed - one of them was the voice thing.

you can always check your mq2rez settings by /rez settings

Best wishes!

Man if that isn't a dead giveaway you're using MQ I don't know what is. This should default to off.
I'm not sure how this is a giveaway that you are using MQ? All it does (as far as I'm aware feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) is send your character a voice tell when you die, no one other than you would be aware the voice tell happened. Are you referring to on DBG's end? DBG has the ability to identify that way before you'd be able to play long enough to die and have the voice tell be what tipped them off.

To be fair, this plugin probably shouldn’t even exist since it’s an include disguised as a plugin. But yeah, that is the wrong thing to be paranoid over; there is far worse to worry about.

agreed, i've turned it off but for some reason will have it sometimes turn itself back on.
I really cringe when I see it.

Only the toon that dies and issues the voicetell can hear the voice tell, IE: you.
If others could hear it then I'd hear it 6 times every time a character died, which isn't the case. It's just an audible alert to inform you that a character has died and can be disabled.
Also, it's not an "include disguised as a plugin", it's a plugin.
An include would be something that would need to be called during a certain interval within any other macro/plugin that intends to rez you automatically. Since you are capable of running multiple plugins, there is no reason not to have this feature standalone in it's own plugin.

The modifications to the plugin mq2rez have the settings saved automatically at the time you issue a command to alter a setting, and are loaded from the saved settings per character at the time of initialization. If the setting is being altered and you are not doing it, then it's possible that a macro is doing (and the likely culprit). For instance, KissAssist likes to take it upon itself to turn off mq2rez and alter your rezpct. It does this with a squelch command, meaning it prevents the plugin from letting you know it's happened. So people die and then say the plugin isn't working. But in reality the plugin is working, but it's been turned off or the settings altered by KissAssist.

I see, I had imagined the voicetell had been to group.
I think its a competing KA rez issue as to why it keeps getting clicked onto certain characters.
Overall I do appreciate the revamped plugin.

I would like to be able to reference the code in question that changes the settings, but i always delete it from KissAssist as I don't want KA altering my settings. So I don't currently have the code to show. Also, I'm in no way implying that KA is the only one that does something like that (with MQ2Rez or any other plugin) but that happened to be the most commonly used macro on redguides that I'm aware of. Kissassist will adjust the MQ2Rez settings based on the contents of the INI per character. So having those settings correct in the INI will prevent the changes in theory. Though the settings for MQ2Rez are saved per character, and are not a global file or anything, so the settings changes should apply only to the player that runs KA and their settings incorrect for what they actually want.

I could just go through and alter all my INI's but then I have to do that for ever character, so instead I just open the macro and navigate to the code in question and delete it. That way I'm only altering one file instead of 12.
