Problem - Very Vanilla/MQ2Melee movement issue with a lot of melee boxes

Im playing with a new 12 box setup that has a lot of melee classes in it and I am running into an issue where the default MQ2Melee settings are moving them to places where they dont engage with the monster at all and have kind of an old school water sprinkler effect of stuttering left to right and not swinging. If I can time it right they can all get their hits in before they try to reposition themselves and subsequently bug out.

I'm sure I could explain it better or record a video but does this sound familiar to anyone elses experience? I'm pretty much running everything out of the box and not customized but at this point I would be better off with the in-game follow mechanism and trying to position them that way. About 8-10 of my dudes aren't engaging in combat properly as-is.

This sort of thing can happen if you accidentally leave the "Follow Me" button toggled. Or you have done a follow command.

The toon will try to navigate to attack but jerk right back

What's the recommendation when not doing a conventional pull/kill spot but are killing as you move? Break follow as part of the assist command and then reissue a follow after each fight?

your "8-10 of my dudes aren't engaging" - this sounds like a potential background fps issue, if you have your background fps turned down too low you can get skipped behavior from your background toons - check your alt-o display settings in game.
I suggest ~60+ background fps, and mq2eqwire (which just skips "drawing" the frames, but doesn't make it skip behavior).

re: your setup - you might want to make a macro that does some navigating to your "tank" while not engaged in combat --- if you were using kissassist or something like that, you would use /chaseon

What do you use ? KissAssist? Modbot? IHC ?
All of them have a Chase setting, use it for roaming killing.

Shinatsume, I dont believe I use any of those specifically as I am just running Very vanilla off the shelf with no extra plugins/macros. Are those kosher on TLP (Rizlona/Ragefire) like very vanilla is?

Sic I know what you're referring to (as I dealt with it originally when i wasnt able to use ISBoxer) but currently isnt an FPS issue but i do think Szazor is onto something - i have an active follow me toggle set while the assist/stick goes off. I'll do some testing tomorrow to see if breaking follow and then assisting causes the water sprinkler behavior.

yeah if they are still "follow me" while they're trying to fight, they will have conflicting behavior and do all sorts of whackyness going back and forth

You can minimize this a bit in KissAssist by ensuring your ChaseDistance=60 is just a little bit shorter than your MeleeDistance=70 in your INI file. Also, it helps to drive your tank right in on top of the mob.

Forgive my ignorance but is KissAssist bundled into the very vanilla package? Would a bigger gap be better or is the recommendation to break/reapply follow between each mob when killing while roaming?

aye, kissassist is a macro included in Very Vanilla - allows for lots of really great customization and fine tuning.

if you're not specifically using JUST mq2melee for a specific reason, I would strongly encourage you to branch out to a macro like kissassist
