Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server)

Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server) (5 Viewers) 3.1.52472.1

No permission to download
I’ve heard several people say Test is getting patched and the expansion is going live on Test today.
Has anyone heard this?
I have checked the EQ forums and saw no official post there confirming anything, or even mentioning a patch today.
Also I checked the server status and saw that
Test is still up and running.
I’m at work today and was just wondering….

with the release of Laurion's Song on test server it has brought down the test build. while i put on my patience pants can we slip that ice cream upside down? =)

it was up last night around 11ish pm est ... for about 20 mins and than taken down again as there were zoning issues to the new expansion areas ... as of now it is still currently locked if you check the test channel in EQs discord i am sure they will update it today with progress ... better having this happen to test than all the live servers next week =)

And how often do they just ignore issue yall point out and pass it to live =-(

hah right? while they do catch a lot of things beforehand they definitely do need to make a better effort ... personally i gotta admit i dont think this new expansion is ready to release ... there are still a lot of issues (aside from the persona failure they should just table this till later) that need working out ... hopefully they get some luck and time to do so before next week.

Said they were going to do another try sometime today, but haven't seen any mention of if Persona is still F'd.

When test does come avail, this screams to me "A lot of eye on the server from Daybreak" Tread soft tread safe my friends.

Even if they do unlock test today we will not have access to MQ since there will need to be a new build and imagine there are a lot of changes that need made

Anyone know how long after an expansion we can typically expect MQ to be back? (Haven't been around for an expansion drop in years).

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?

MacroQuest for Live servers:
MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

There's never a real standard ETA.

This year EverQuest has a bunch of bullshit changes, and according to their Dev the test update is 2 weeks or more behind beta.

Which means any changes that are being tracked and reverse engineered from beta might not be lining up with what is available on the test server

TL;DR - thanks for being patient

beta was all the xpac stuff - so i imagine brainiac has been working on that stuff

the xpac stuff was moved to test this week - but not the current beta version (which is wild and crazy to me)

xpac stuff will be moving to live next tuesday - hopefully they have things worked out by then

take mercs broken on test atm post 120 --- they're fixed last night on beta --- but not test. why they do this to ya'll? lol

Right? Test is the red-headed but also spoiled step child? How's that work haha?

test is best ... always say it and always advocate it ... but in order to have fun on the server one needs to have a lot of patience =) i like every other RG member here who plays on test fulltime have learned that with all the pros of the server the cons require yep ... patience haha .

as always the RG crew will do there best to get the build up and running efficiently ... as always with new expansions come a lot of new changes ... thanks to you all for all the work you put in

Sometimes the forced break allows one to come up for air. I quite enjoy that aspect. Gives you time to actually fix some hotkeys or INIs that you are procrastinating on. I even emptied the dishwasher yesterday. 💪

Hey, new user here.
The wait, is it like 3 days, a week, 2 weeks?
Just so i know how to plan in the future.
BTW love the software and what you guys are doing here.

that varies as Sic already stated. There will be more patches from eq today i bet.
previous expansion releases at times left mq down for nearly a month.

Now is the perfect time to do everything you don't want to do when MQ is up and running.....
I'll be focusing on getting epics on my bards, shamans and clerics that I'm using in my new raid group..

Thanks to all who help get Test back up!!

That's what I do..as an aside, to hell with rogue 2.0s. tradeskills suck.

lol I go play on live and farm stuff to testcopy. I hate playing without MQ to make my life easier, All the movement stuff is highly missed as well as the enhanced map.

LOL!! That's my exact reaction yesterday when I logged into VT. At zone in, opened map and was like damn someone cleared this place out!!!

Then I realized...

the current test build seems to have a random toon crash whenever zoning ... confirmed it happens in open world as well as instance zoning. here is a crash ID ... hope it helps!

---------------------------
EverQuest Crash Detected
---------------------------
MacroQuest caught a crash:
Version: 3.1.0.1974
Location: C:\EverQuest\eqgame.exe+0000000000681400

CrashID: a8c33218-1795-4efd-b05e-cfd5de256be6

You can either:
* [RETRY] Continue execution and hope for the best.
* [CANCEL] Write a crash dump and terminate EverQuest.
