I have been running on live for almost a year now, I recently decided to try out Test Server. I cannot seem to get MQ to work for Test. I have a separate MQ folder for Live and Test, separate EQ folder for Live and Test. Live works fine but Test gives this error when I launch EQ. How do I fix this? thanks,

that means you're trying to load live for test your eqlib and mq2main are mismatched

I would double-check your settings tab for folders

and then make sure you're only trying to load the live one for live and test for test

Settings Tab in launcher shows the Test folder when i am trying to use Test. It loads until i try to launch EQ from the Test eq folder.

make sure you have your autologin launching the correct eq location

I definitely see you more recently downloaded live rather than test, but assuming they are indeed going to the correct locations, i would make sure you're not telling your test mq to launch your regular eq

Autologin is in the Config folder under MQ2AutoLogin.ini right? If so, that is set to my test EQ folder. I DLed live to make sure it was still working before posting =)

yes your autologin.ini

[Profiles]
DefaultEQPath=F:\EverQuest

etc

brain corrected me where i said it means you're trying to load the wrong version - it actually means you have a mismatched eqlib and mq2main - which could i guess be a couple of different things
 
@Kordaaf spitballing here

can you check your antivirus/defender for any quarantined files? (definitely suggest considering whitelisting your eq and mq folders)

I would assume if I delete those 2 files I could have it downloaded and fix that issue right?

yup, should be able to hit the "reinstall" button too and save the extra step

but definitely check quarantine first just in case

I tried all of those and it still didn't work. So I blew up both my Test EQ and MQ folders and started over. It is working now. Thanks for taking the time to help!

I did not see any real change but I worked on PoP progression instead of actually playing content that was harder. But I kept watch on General and guild chat and nothing really seemed to have changed (I am 100% sure they did not fix the merc recruitement bug)
 
well i'd imagine the fact it was off schedule, unannounced on a friday afternoon being the bigger issue

eq typically does something like:

second wednesday: test patch
third wednesday: live patch
fourth wednesday: test -> live "reup"

test has been on tuesdays lately instead of wednesdays

I've been gone a while and forget these things. I checked the RG launcher and it said patch day so the new download wasn't available yet so I was wondering how bad they messed it up for MQ2.

it is just "MQ" these days, the 2 has been yoten'd into yonder

patches are pretty quick these days, I'd suggest > Getting Notified When Test Is Patched < so you can do your thing and know when you're back in action

there is almost never an eta other than "it'll be patched when it is patched" - dbg treats test server like a test server, they re-patch often and do things off schedule without announcement, which can make additional off-schedule work for the MQ devs

you can get notified when it is ready as we previously discussed

good luck and hopefully it comes back soon

Thanks for this. Tipped both $10 because test server is a PITA i'm sure.
 
The words Test and Best rhyme for a reason. its by far the best server to box on for so many of the wonderful perks ... but even the best situations have downsides ... the best server as mentioned does have more downtime than others but with a little patience and creativity (work on your copykits on FV) and some nice fitting patience pants ... the best server is well worth the wait.

I think 519helvis offered the best advice last month for those getting antsy about the patch and the fixing of VV. Like he says above, take the opportunity to hop on Firiona Vie and work on your /testcopy gear/items.

No lag here. My only issue is with EQBC. Everyone is "connected", but sent commands arent being broadcasted to the group
