UF Quests?

Hey folks, ran into a snag in the UF quest, "Gnoll who your friends are" was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get the updates for "find some gnolls who are willing to testify about Dorrvix"

all you have to do its hail the gnolls if they say hi u hand them device i think and quest updates if they say you want fight then kill or can use a monk to do this

I just ran around giving gnolls the shield item thingie... some talk to you, some attack you.

I found that even if you hand it to a gnoll in the middle of a bunch only that one agros. Agro won't transfer to other nearby mobs until you actually start beating on it.
