I’m boxing 6 in Blackfeather Roost. It has ledges and bridges that are causing me nightmares. Chase On is a nightmare, Come To Me is marginally better. My toons keep jumping off the ledges. I get the slingshot/yo-yo effect. My only option is to manually walk each across individually. Is this a mesh issue that I can work on? I’ve never tried to adjust them (I did watch the video though!). How do you folks manage these conditions? I can’t imagine doing it with multiple groups or a raid force. What’s the secret?

this slingshot yo yo effect is often due to a couple of things

double check you don't have a low min background fps setting on your background toons - they need to be at least 30, preferably 60+ - you will find this in your Alt-O then display, then advanced

having "min" or too low causes eq to skip the "work cycles" and you end up with bad background behavior.

the other thing that can cause it is if your toons are bumping into one another and bump themselves over a ledge because of it - this is more than likely not what you're describing but worth mentioning - if this is the case calling them to you one at a time might be good

So all 6 toons were set the same. Maximum max FPS and minimum background FPS. I changed them all to 60/61 like your SS. Laggy AF now. Could just be the game. When I get over my pissedoffedness with BFeather Roost, I’ll go check out the pathing there again. For now it’s Bastion of Thunder! Better memories lol. Thanks @Sic

You could check out mq2eqwire (paid plugin by eqmule) if you lag a lot with the increased fps settings

Already using it. That’s the only reason I can run more than 3 toons. I’m in Bastion of Thunder and the lag is so bad now that if i click on a spell gem it gets stuck on my cursor. I’m not sure that the settings I changed are causing this or not. The lag has been worse since the new xpac launched. It’s nearly unbearable now

Changing the settings should make little difference if you are already using that apart from the foreground having higher fps cap?

Potentially check your eq client.ini to make sure the cpu affinity stuff is set correctly, search the forums for ini tweaks there is a few posts with people who have done a good job showing performance enhancement from their changes for their secondary characters. Much more than I could offer sadly

Is that different than what the come to me button does?
Yes, it will bring all your toons using nav instead of just the group. But if they are still running off the edges, I would say you have bad lag or a bad mesh file.

i set these a while back when I first set up my box crew but to be sure I went back in and checked. CPU 5=1...was what I found. I changed it to -1',,,,,,LAG GONE!,!,!!!, My CPU usage is spiking now into the 90s. Not sure what to do there. All 6 eqgame files are now double digits. Before only the main toon went above 10

Lag was gone....cpu usage was 90+ but it was smoooooth. Now cpu usage is sub 60 and lagging like a mofo again. All I did was kill shit. Game? Or my abacus?

The guys above gave the best technical support you can get. My experience, much more of a social and anecdotal one, is that MQ2 (et al) operates better in some zones than others. Lugging 6 characters around Crystal Caverns in TOV, for example, has truly tested my patience.

My workaround is simple enough: If I am in a zone that has multiple obstacles (ie water, ledges, see invis mixed in with IVU) I will load up one of my mages and GCOH my group around. Alternatively, I just avoid complex zones where I have had issues.

I try to avoid them as well. Since this is my main group I don’t have any Mages yet that I can use for CoTH. It’s in the future plan though! Thanks for your thoughts

Nah! Old school COTH...killl your whole team but your necro...then invis, undead invis, fd your way to spot...and rezz your cleric and put up your campfire. #necroCOH!...lol

One other thing - as a noob I would click on 'follow me' because it appeared to make my toons follow closer in tight terrain. But I did this while they were also in chase mode. This combination did not work well, and toons would often go scampering off in the opposite direction. In addition to spinning in circles while fighting

Avoiding this (and, as others have mentioned, ensuring background FPS is as high as possible) has helped tremendously.

And if having issues falling off cliffs, you could also try disabling stick, or stick rear, so they don't attempt to move to the back of the mob. I find if they approach and fight the mobs from the same side as I pull from they go off the ledge less often.

Follow me would use advpath and it essentially would record the locations to moveto at certain intervals which is why it would seem to follow tighter since it would be essentially following the same path the toons its following

Adding in mq2nav and the macro or plugin chase functions it would override the moveto stuff and it basically would save all them moveto locations and once it broke free from chase functions.... It would go to the first one in the queue.... I tell ya, have had several hours of this once upon a time... It was shocking until I realised what was happening, then it was a great laugh 😂

FYI, I finally made my way back to blackfeather and this hotkey has worked perfectly so far! Thanks @cannonballdex !
Yeah using NAV seems to be the most accurate, with the caveat that you don't use non-nav "follow" or "move" functions intermixed. It causes funky issues like Rooster described.. Like WTF IS MY GUY DOING OMFGNOOO.......loading...... stuff lol.

That being said.. don't watch your guys though when they're moving to you in nav in a zone with ledges n stuff, as they will run RIGHT on the edge sometimes, looks scary as hell, but they never fall..
