The Lost Notebook

Finally got the pages farmed this weekend and went through the mission 6-7 times. Glad I finally got this working before the update, Thx to everyone who worked the bugs outta of this before I did it...
 
Has anybody found the Blood Rage Choker or Crystaline Webbing of Musing?

I've tried on Hard, Normal, and the 65 version and have never seen either (or a hp aug for that matter)

If you've got the Choker, Webbing or an aug could you post what setting you were on and whether it was a chest or EYE drop?

The Webbing of Musing was on hard and the Blood Rage Choker was on Normal setting. I Have yet to see the aug drop.

Both augs are chest drops on hard and as he said, the choker is on normal. Must be normal with like a 68 avg. level though not the easy ones.

The cursor loot for the melee types is better than the choker anyway unless you are just looking for that clickie. I don't ever use the clickie myself, but guess maybe I should.. hehe
 
Aye, I have a better neck already but am looking for the clickie :)

Try using my strategy on the other thread to get it quicker.

Just keep the guy who needs the choker (Along with the page holder and the Eye caster, if different) in the zone but out of the mission when you are about to loot the 9th page.
 
Verified last night that you cannot trade no drop and attunable with the eyes. It just poofs and you lose hand in.

I'm not sure where this came from. Was there a reason you thought you could trade no drop with eyes?
 
Ok this has been a great it of info and is apreciated muchly.

I have dont this task quite a few times(still waiting for ring to drop)

Figured I would leave my strat for those that like the guide even a neufie can understand.

Gotta do the mission once and be the one to loot all the books so you have a complete set.

Gonna need a eye of zomm clicky or spell.
Mage-has spell or a ring
Bard- has singing steel helm
Gnome tinkerer can make stalking probes, 5 charges each item.
Holgresh elder beads - from SH casion extreemly rare.


anyways I get the mission, hard easy normal dont matter but gotta do all of em a quite few times to get the different loot tables from the missions and chests. Ask yer friends to join ya for a task and tell em to stay in whatever group they are in but they need to stay in task. (This gets them the flag for the mission and the task loot for completing it if not done already, also if you dont need chest loot they are able to come a runnin and grab the loot in the chest if you dont need it)

I put my view into a close up of the side of my char (this makes it quicker to target the eye quicker)
I also do a test or two to see where i need to click to target the eye and have bags open to hand it over quick.
I put my book bag in the first inventory slot so they all go back in the same place and order.(easier to keep track of)
As you get books you find count for the quest move em to the bottom and you will see the system I use)

Move the quest log to a area to where you can have your open bag of books, the corpse box and the item count.

you gotta do this part fast because the eyey only lasts for so long and will evaporate quickly weather you looting or not.

Make an eye and soon as he pops give him 4 books.( any 4, dont matter just gotta figure out the order for every mission)
As soon as you hit "give" hit auto attack and kill it.
Target the corpse and hit Hotkey ( I made one that has line 1 /loot cause it is quicker than trying to right click it to loot it)

Open up the task and watch the item count as you loot items.
When you see the item count change the book you looted for the item change has been counted, put it in the bottom of your bag and keep track of which ones you have used, then it is rinse and repeat till finished.


Now that I have the info for the hotkeys I will use those to make it even quicker.

Also if you are a FD class or you brought the whole fam damly to the zone you can kill the mobs in zone for XP while waiting for timer to run out.
I sometimes have guidlies doing tradeskills or farming to join me in task so they can take advantage of the chest loot if I cant use it.

I have lost a few of the books from going LD after the hand in, taking too long to loot (took me a while to figure out if i change the view I could find the sweet spot easier.)
 
Side note, if fam damily is killing mobs while you do this and loot books you will have spares incase you loose some. Always handy to have a complete set or two on alts or buddies to save time.
 
To get the original set of books, are then random drops from any mob? Like can your group sit at zonein and then you just pull mobs to them or do you need to move throughout the zone to get the books?

What's the repop time?
 
the books all have their own dropping order for each mission, they drop from any random mobs, i have'nt had to go much farther than pulling the first couple floors of each oblisk after clearing initial zone. no repops for mission.
We usually clear the first zone in area and wait for pulls while clearing the plains area, after that it is pulls and tags from the oblilisks.
 
no reason to think that no drops could be transfered that way. just figured I would try it. Then figured I would post so that others didn't waste their items:)
 
Hard to tell on the BP...some days are better than others...I think if you run 5 missions or so you should be able to nail one.
 
Ok I know this thread has been going for a while but I have to ask .... this mission is started by getting the torn notebook correct?? How the hell do ya get it have camped where it is supposed to drop for a few days off and on no drop though....
 
Just go to the taskgiver and say "I will recover the pages". Don't bother with the Stoneroot part. BTW have done this several times with guildees both regular and eye method. The loots have been:
4 BPs
2 35 atk augs
1 avoid aug
2 soothers
1 shield

Tried the 65th lvl method and got:
1 helm
1 arms
 
You don't need the notebook container that you are given when the mission starts - just destroy it. What folks are doing is the normal 69.1 and getting the 9 pages that are dropped. Then they are doing new missions and giving those pages to eyes of zoom, killing eye and looting pages..mission update (page drops are a random order so you have to just keep giving them to eye until mission updates). There are not any no drops involved.
 
i tried this process with 69.2 ... botany one.. and it did not work ../cries

this will be one of the first exploits i try once the servers are back up

Ok I have followed this up a little and for the other Noobs like me. you have 2 choices here you must have the torm notebook or have been in a group that completed the mission at least once. Otherwise he just ignores you.

I have had zero luck with the drop so am beating my head against the wall with this one.

I was about to begin working on a macro for this, but if you would be willing to share your macro it would save me some time. If you are not willing to share your macro, I will be posting mine here when I get it working.

PS, check bazaar as you can find the torn notebook for sale.
 
/shrugs, i did that today gave the eye some books killed it, looted was nothing on corpse
 
I also gave book to Eye in Overthere and looted it. My server crashed before I could test in mission...I will try tonight if server is up.
 
OK i gave first book to eye in mission

i gave another book to a new eye .. kill and nada

i gave trash itema nd book ... item there .. book not

then i zoned out and back in .. tried again .. nada


/cries 4 books gone
 
Just an idea, how about giving books to Eye in another zone.

For example.

One toon gets mission
One toon zones into instance
One toon in Overthere giving books to Eye and looting
 
Another thought is, can you give a item to a mob that does not like you or is attacking you.

If so pull spider into canyon, when he starts to run give him the books. Does not eliminate killing spiders but reduces the number of kills needed.

I would try these myself but I am at work, if nobody else already knows the answer to these possibilities I will try them tonight.
 
Its nerfed 2/22/06 , cast eye gave 8 books it gave 1 book back. Was like wtf. cast eye again gave 2 books, and it eat them both.
