Well i havent seen this on here and if it is i apolgize my l33t thread browsing skills suck.. but anyways i have farmed this dry so i thought i would post it now.. in the spell misson 69.1 "The lost notebook" if you collect a full set of books by doing the mission once on hard or easy you can now do the mission quickly over and over.. use elder beads and or bard helm to cast eye of zom or if your a mage(im sorry for you lol) you can do it on your own... what you do is give the eye 4 books kill and loot if it does not add to your 0/9 status give him 4 more different books etc till you get 1/9 take the book that counted and put it in another bag and keep doing this procces until you complete the mision takes 5-6 min tops.......basicly the mission has the books drop in a random order you just have to figure out what order it is and then /farm on

If some one can verify this I'd say it is acceptable. I'll check the members forum for ya real fast :P

*edit* I did a search on "The Lost Notebook" in the member forums, and I didn't see anyone mention your strat. If I had an active EQ account I'd go verify it, but I don't so some one needs to verify this.
 
Side note that same strat used to work for "Cavern Botany" cant confirm it does anymore havent done that one in a long time.. obviously with the shrooms and fungus and not books :D
 
I have been n groups that have one the mission this way several times. Works as posted. Then just wait inside till /tasktimer is gone and zone out and repeat. It saves running if you leave a toon at the quest giver to keep getting missions too.

Collect a full set of books by doing the mission once on hard or easy.

Now you can do the mission quickly over and over with either of these:

Or if you have a mage just use the spell:
* Eye of Zomm

What you do is give the eye 4 books kill and loot. If it does not add to your 0 of 9 collection status give him 4 different books, untill you get book 1 of 9 take that book that counted and put it in seprate bag. keep doing this procces until you complete the mision takes 5 to 6 minutes
tops.
Basicly the mission makes the books drop in a random order, you just have to figure out what order it is and then /farm on

Love the new explaination. Can't verify that it works as I cannot afford Holgresh Elder Beads, nor do I have the books! Hehe.
 
Well this still works as of 1/21 and I’ve enjoyed cleaning out the loots. There is a 30 or so min lockout time so we just kill drachnids by the ZI until the timer is up. Takes 4-5 mins to get the chest and bam killin spiders again. This is off topic but the spiders are social that we kill so be careful. We don’t leave mission just in case we have to zone back in to the hive instanced. They can be low level pet pulled single, but have some that knows what they are doing. They will come in groups of 3 otherwise. Its ok xp and they hit for 1k or so. Not to bad. As a bsty I can tank them single but make the cleric go OOM if 2 come. Just my 2 cp.
 
Yes they can be mezzed....even on Hard mission, the MR of the spiders is very low. I rarely get a mezz resist on my chanter. The wolves, however, are a totally different story.

This mission on hard is insane exp and very easy to complete for a kiter, so its a win either way....from SOE, imagine that?!?
 
adds can be mez'd and rooted I was doing this mission simply for the exp for like 3-4 hours since all the mobs where red! was a great time.
 
Since I am on the road right now the most I can do is 3 box. I would like to know what my chances are 3 boxing normal mission with 70 Pally 2k ac/10k hp, 70 Clr using AFcleric (I do not have any 69/70 spells) and a 70 Enc using Autobot (no 69/70 spells). I have been using this combo in Stoneroot on dracnids and doing well until I get trained...

If anyone can give me a strat for this group I would grealty appreciate it.

When I get home I will add Dru,Rng and Brd all 70 to the grp.

I 3box the mission Rng/ Afcleric /autoenc..

Tanking the mobs, they hit for 700/1100 on hard setup, what i do is i Dot , and root them in front of me before the Ench slows them, 1 nuke, aggro is mine, when slowed ok to tank.

Rng ac is crappy, 1800/11K HP..so you should be fine.
 
Ok I have a lame question.
I have completed the 69.1 over and over and at the end to get the chest to pop you need to combine the books. After that you lose all 1-9. So how do you get the chest to drop with out doing the combine? And how do you do this over and over if you are losing the books.

I'm having a hellofa time trading w/ the eye... is there a shortcut ?? Half the time I dont get it before it despawns
 
I usually tell wiz to push the eye towards me so not to target the wiz. Then once eye stops I get right on top of it, look straight down, and then trade with it. The trick is that you want it as big on the screen as possible, and in 1st person view. This way the eye looks the same in your screen every time and you’ll find the “sweet” spot. If your view of the eye is different every time then the spot to trade with will be different. Oh and I usually drop levitation too. The bobbing affects it too. If you get the do you wish to drop this on the ground msg and its not in the way then try to trade with the eye again with the msg up. If you get the trade window on the 2nd or even 3rd try it will make those do you wish to drop this on the ground boxes go away. But after the 3rd box they are all in your view so you have to close them. Ill try and work a macro for it.
 
Will /fastdrop never in the mq window make it where you can never drop items to the ground? or does it go in the regular chat window
 
Cool ty dark :) And if I made a macro, and you had non-mqers in your group they would know, because it would hand the books, kill the eye, and loot in about a second then as soon as the wiz pops the eye bam it would be dead. They would know something is up. Ill post a macro for it (for you 3+ boxers) to make it easier. I will test the macro tonight. I might add delays to make it seem natural to.
 
I would like to know the code for mq to open a trade window with your current target, so I can make a hotkey of it.

I would work like hotkey one target Eye,
then hotkey two open a trade window with target.

this way no nasty how to look at it nor find a sweet spot and even the caster itself might be able to do it then.

Hmmm I think if I recall it right,

it might work if you have the book on your cursor and the eye targeted.

then:

/click left target
If I recall it right that was it what forces the tradewindow to open even with your cursor way offset.
I will try it out now myself : )

Funny how it happens so often to me that I answer my own questions so quick once I posted a question /sigh
