Tip - TBL - Prisoner's Dilemma

Hey all! I'm finally started working on TBL progression and I'm stuck on the Prisoner's Dilemma quest. I've been killing the furtive messengers for hours now, trying to get the third message bag with no luck. Step:

• Bring the messages from the Empyr towers to Star Stealing Sage. Tell him about what you learned from Blazing Battleworn Eyes. 0/1 (Empyr: Realms of Ash)

Is there a trick here? I've been killing the messengers as soon as they start their pathing. Do I need to let them reach certain checkpoints before I kill them in order to get the third bag? Thanks!

iirc, don't you need to let it go through its full route and then get it on the way back? or something like that

Because it is going to, coming from, and travel to the towers?

its been a while since i did it, but i recall there being a "gotcha"

I am hoping to experience that "gotcha" moment soon when the right item actually drops! You are right though. The messengers vanish when they reach the towers, or if they are roaming for a long time, but they do eventually repop in the southern tower. I probably need to wait for them to go through the pathing cycle. I still haven't gotten the drop I need but I will post where it dropped when I do.

Even though the names are the same, they are independent. ie each of the 3 only good for a specific update. stay on the road to the north (and middle) for the 2. The other one roams a bit usually on west side traveling to the south. they despawn after a bit so you may need to wait for a respawning.

Thanks for the info! I'm near the southwest tower now killing the messengers that roam down here. Still, no bag drops but I'll wait them out. I've killed 3 in the past hour. It looks like they spawn initially near the zone to Aalishai, and the Northwest Tower, but if you kill those spawns too soon then you never get the messenger going to the Southwest tower.

Need to kill in three diff spots. Try moving around to the other locations where the messengers wander.

Just stand near Empyr zone in (The golden gate West of Star the quest NPC) and just wait for him to roam, i killed 3 of them while just standing there yesterday.

I still haven't had luck with the third drop from the furtive messenger. This quest is a pain in the butt lol. Here is where I am at:

A. This is where I got the first two drops from the messengers (Item I.D: 116869 & 116870). I killed ~50+ here trying to get the third drop before moving on to different locations. One of these two bags drops almost every time they are killed in this area.
B. I moved the crew to this area and started killing the southbound messenger. I've killed probably ~20. in 3 hours with no bag drops at all. This spawn is rarer than the messengers on the A pathing. I think if you kill the messengers on the northern path, the southern path messengers won't spawn?
C. Moved to this location for about an hour. No messengers path this way.
D. I'm testing out this location now.

Do you mean the Aalishai zonein? (West of the Star NPC)

Yep just park your crew there, he will re-spawn once you kill it. Take around few mins before it respawns again.
