I'm loving brass palace now that I have a way to negate the DS, it's the simplest and fastest way I have of getting T3 gear on my 4 prestige toons.

BUT, I'm almost KOS now to the mobs in the task. I spend the time after looting the chest killing mephits around the zone for meat/blood, but combined with doing FF occasionally for easy expansion currency, the task mobs are much bigger faction hits than regular trash.

How do you guys keep faction balanced in TBL? Is there a secret to it, or are there other HA's / missions that balance it the other way?

I think it depends on what type of mob you want to stay in good graces with. For example, I'd like to run through Stratos without agroing everything and its mother, but after doing a few of the stratos mercenary tasks I'm at a lower faction than I'd like. Also, I was farming collectibles in the air section of mearatas, which fucked my faction with most of Stratos. I think going to a different section of stratos and farming mobs there will offset it. Alternatively, mobs that give correction faction hits exist in other zones in TBL, depending on which one you need.

Go hunt in and around the Amphitheater in Mereatas (if you have progression done, a lamp from Tears, or a friendly campfire). You’ll kill roughly the same number of mobs from all 4 factions and end up on good faction with all of them.

And as a side benefit - a loot piñata to boot

Go to Esianti and move between the air, water and earth mobs. Kill a few at each spot and then move. Cycle through all 3 until fire faction is fixed and then never do brass palace again.

The Esianti mission (contract of war) was a little bit beyond me last time i tried it. Been a week or so, might give it a try later if I get some playtime tonight. But no Mereatas access yet :(.

Which task do people do in order to grab more of the group coins? Like, for remnants of tranquility, Into the Temple (b) is the go to task. Still have thousands of TBL coins to get, and FF and Brass Palace are the only tasks I can do for that.

Trial of the Wending Ways is pretty easy, you can probably 3 PC it with healer mercs. Just bring some good dps. Total of 6 mobs you need to kill. You can invis through all the trash.

EDIT. My bad. No currency. Just double checked.

Usually do fight fire, contract of war, brass palace, relic raider and throw in the odd smoke: trial of 3 (no currency) for chance at muhbis. Oddly enough used to do fight fire and tyrant of fire in the beginning, probably did tyrant 2 months back. Got lazy.

My actions on logging in:
lamp, run to greath sky ocean, do brass place/contract of war, lamp, do fight fire, get kicked to pok, lamp to mereats, do relic raider
then... go and run missions to get old collections :bang:

Stratos
Fight Fire: (96) quick and easy, mezzer if starting out. these days I just tank them all
Brass Palace: (96) easy with a reverse damage shield
Contract of War: (96) find it easy

Mereatas
Relic Raider: (96) easy enough with mez for mephits, if you wipe its a pain to recover

Plane of Fire:
Delivery: (143) PITA to run all toons
Remodeling: (143) PITA to run all toons
Tyrant of Fire: (143) Easy enough with mez, travel puts me off as you also need to get a ring in esianti to start

Empyr
Prince Ralaifin: (96) simply takes too long

Chamber of tears:
Strange Magic: (96) Still finding it difficult, long way to travel

Mearatas. Set up camp in for the center named and just pull the armors that path to the center. 1 day will max out your faction for all tbl factions. Plus the armors are PH for 4 other named.

Grab contract of war, no faction hit on those mephits. Do not even need to start/complete it just kill the trash.

That's the secondary reason I kill them, since I'm killing the watery ones down south, and the verchiki (?) ones in the east, it starts to repair my fire faction. But because of the named being a much bigger faction hit, you have to kill a bunch more of them to try and repair the damage.

If I'm honest, when I asked this question I was sorta hoping there was a zone, or a faction of mob, that increased all 4 of the main TBL factions. You ever done something that was a little boring, very repetitive, in the belief that you were doing the right thing, but someone comes along after 6 months and says ".... Dude. Why didn't you just kill xxxxxx?"

Just making sure I wasn't overly ignorant :p

Edit: Oh and thanks a bunch for summing up the coins tasks. That's good info. Looks like I have a lot more progression to work on.

... See? Like this lol.

Thanks Doze :)

I need to pull my head outa my ass and get flagged I guess.

If you can handle Brass Palace, you can handle Contract of war. You just need the proper strat. The major key is to preclear. There's 3 named. the Female is just rape dps. The male is moderate dps with a dot that becomes a DT, set up an audio trigger - I think I use " strangled " He fires it about every 30-45 seconds, RC the first, then group purify for the second, if there's a third RC will be back up. The bird is moderate dps and spawns time based adds.

Kill first named (the order is random.) Cross the bridge and go leftish toward where the zone in from stratos in normal zone is, set camp there. Then clear the 2 guards from the palace entry, the roamer inside the main palace, the 2 trash in the room up to the king, then the 2 guards from the kings door. Kings room is the 2nd walkway to the right upon entering the palace. I'd post pics but with eq down I can't grab them.

While doing this, watch the 2nd named. There is a roamer that will come sit next to the named, be sure to pull that too so it's not an add during the named fight.

The time limit is six hours, Do first named, then clear. Do second named. Now go do dishes or laundry and wait for discs. then kill third named. That was my original plan. Once you kill the third named, give the drop to someone non essential, and once the first 2 mephs are in camp, run that person up and click the door to stop mephs from spawning.

Now I just kill named, clear, kill second named and then race to third because my disc is only half used. Finish disc with last named.

Seriously. You can look at some of my older posts. I was asking about how not to get my ass kicked in Ash by named and was using my discs on the messengers. 21 days later I was farming mearatas named.

Honestly the only good thing about fire faction is the mobs in FF don't auto aggro. Yeah it's nice to wander about all zones without invis, but that seems so alien compared to the rest of EQ that it's a convenience I don't come to rely on.

I rely on it in Stratos pretty hard, though lol... I just don't want to go splat there.

Which, after farming the air mobs in mearatas for stupid collectibles, means I'm KOS to that faction.

I still cop aggro in stratos occasionally from an angry elemental or something. Really annoying. I was more referencing fire faction because that's the one we trash with brass palace and I'm so used to needing invis in ash, and most of ember, that it really was more of a oh look I don't need invis here today than a necessity. I'm also not playing in tbl currently. I'm focused on getting my vp key so my stupid boots will evolve. Once that happens I'll live in tbl and gmm again.

Contract of war you do not have to fight the adds at the same time as the named
1st: stand over the bridge where you zone in (roughtly) target a add aggro it, named + 2 adds comes, named leashes and drops aggro
2nd: watch for the one that wanders up
3rd: target add in center while standing outside, aggro it. named leashes and clears aggro

Very important to not have any of your toons autoattack the named while doing this leashing strategy to clear adds.

an angry elemental
Think this mob is just kos to everyone, had good faction with everything and he still wanted to have a word.

Finally managed contract of war. The preclear is what I was missing. Thanks Doze, that made all the difference. Actually not that hard now :)
