Question - Switching Target mid-fight

Hi, hope someone can help.

Generally having a great time with KA, props to an amazing piece of work. Thanks! I have a flood of questions but will stick to one per thread =) Makes it a more useful reference thread in future.

I'm a bard and having been using a wizard bot.

I'm having issues switching target. I found out about using EQBC and the //switch command which does indeed switch target but the character won't start actually doing anything until the assist (bard) actually melees. On some raids, meleeing is instant death, so currently I have to /end, retarget MA and run KA again which takes valuable time and attention during a raid.

I have tried throwing items, using kick, but the wizbot will sit there and do nothing unless i restart KA, if I get in and melee, it immediately starts casting. In this particular raid I can't melee. What to do?

I was under the impression that KA should reassist anyway, don't know why it's not working, maybe in BURN mode the logic changes?

I am confused. Is it the wizard thats not assisting or your bard?
Who is the MA and who is assisting who?

Sorry if it wasn't clear. Bard is MA. Wiz is just a turret on a rock

Wiz will switch target if i use //switch but will not cast until I melee

//switch is a kiss command t doesn't work in other macros. It sounds like what ever macro you are using on him you need to look at the assist at health %.

I'm using KA. Mob health was the first thing I looked at, it's well below the threshold

Ok, I can reproduce it now. I know parse dummies are a special case but it shows the problem. I had to set assistat and all the hp % to 100 of course.


The issue is with the MA flag in group.

If I set bard as group MA, so there's a target ring. I see the KA message that the MA target has changed and the wizard will swap target and nuke away (it thinks dummies are names!)
If I don't set bard as group MA, no target ring. Wizard will never swap target. If I manually change target it will swap back.

On raids I can't set group assist, confuses people

Looking deeper into the code I can see why KA works that way, getting target without MA flag is icky.

I'm thinking the reason the wiz wasn't casting might have been distance. If bard was next to wiz and called switch to a mob more than 200 away, wiz wouldn't start attcking. This would explain why wiz started casting when I went in melee range.
