Question - Strange Magic - Does anyone have a good boxing strat for this mission?

Herro,

So I've been trying to complete the Strange Magic task in Chamber of Tears, but I keep getting my ass handed to me. My group makeup is mage/wiz/wiz/cler/ench/war. Just curious if anyone has a good strat for completing that task.

Tank is fully T3 geared and max AA. Non-vis are all GMM drops

Rest of my crew is max AA and a mixture of T3 and conflag gear..working on getting them all into T3 as often as I can get muhbis to drop.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you get the Spellbinder golem as the first one you kill, other than that you just need to beat the crap out of it, it's not easy to do, even with decent TBL gear you can struggle as it's way overtuned

My strat for this mission is to set up at the lifebane golem and pull all the others here as when he goes active he has a habit of calling out his emote and I've been caught with the group spread out moving too often. Each golem has its nasty crap but by far hex and life are the worst as a missed emote equals death. Mezz the adds as they spawn and when you kill the next golem they will despawn until you kill the 4th golem then you have 5 fragments to deal with before your chest.

My group is sk/clr/enc/zerk/rogue/beast or whichever I swap my 6th spot depending on what I'm working on.

Also as VC stated if you can get spellbinder out of the way early then if you do wipe further in you can zone back in invisible since none of them see through it but spellbinder pulses his spell slow and will break your invisibility before you finish zoning.

Keep at it and you'll get it beaten

I wiped several times... Have a camp fire outside at zone in.... Eventually beat it.

I tried repeatedly to get the spellbinder to activate first, got tired and just went with what ever came first. Saved discs for when spellbinder mob activated so I could lessen chances of wipe/unrecoverable.

I ended up dieing after burning each mob. Lobby Rez, buff, campfire, invis in and kill the next one. One of the mob can aggro as you zone in if it is near the door. Try to die away from the door. I zoned in my monk first to see if there was aggro and move it away for the group to zone in.

Not pretty but you only have to do it once.

Good Luck!

Holy shit just completed it. Did what hellfyre said and set up behind the lifebane golem.....Popped dragon scale glyph and all defensives on the Warrior...after the first 3 golems were dead the other one was out of line of sight so didn't aggro immediately....so medded and pulled after discs were back up. No deaths!

I did this one for the first time last night. First off, always hold out for the spellbinding golem to start. Invis your and move behind spellbinding. Have one char step out to the middle area and click the item to start the event. Clicking does not drop invis. You'll see an emote from the active golem. If it's not spellbinding, zone out and drop task. When you get spellbinding, his aoe will drop your invis and he will agro. Pull him back to the group and tank him in the corner.

When he dies, immediately pause macro and invis up. There is a short pause before the next golem activates as well as the adds popping. Once the task has updated, run to the door and zone out. You can rebuff outside and wait for cooldowns to refresh. If anyone died inside, you can send a rezzer inside with invis to drag and rez. Use the pillars behind the golems to block LOS. Don't forget to have a campfire outside the instance. Pet classes use this time to resummon and buff pets, they will be banished after each golem dies along with mercs (maybe?) and any adds left up from a previous golem.

When you're ready for the next golem, zone back in with invis and move to the active golem. Skip clearing the adds, they will despawn when you kill golem #2. Hex golem and lifebane golem have emotes to follow. Pay careful attention when doing hex golem that the char running away from the group does not Los agro the adds that we skipped.

After each dies, zone out so you can med and buff. The event never resets so you have 6 hours to kill 4 golems. When all 4 are dead, you have 5 adds to clear. The are mezzable and can be split with clam/paci if you observe Los. The last thing to do is click the siphon and loot the chest. You may be able to skip the last set of adds if you click the siphon while invis and out of Los, I didn't try.

Unfun fact: the event can bug. On a previous attempt, I wiped on golem #3 at 0% hp but he died to dots while I was in corpse hovering mode. The script did not update with kill credit. It stayed at "kill golems 2/4" even though only 1 golem remained. I was able to kill golem #4, click my siphon and loot the chest, get a Conquest achievo but no mission complete credit towards Hero achievo. I avoided a lockout timer, but it was already 2AM so I wasn't able to take advantage of that part.

Remember that you can charm the adds and add their DPS to yours for the named. That worked really well for us.
