not huge since most people here are probably running mq, but still useful.

lol, now why do those two items bring to mind the single worst Veteran Reward Sony ever created? Lets see... maybe because that little fugger "The Jester of Bristlebane" has poisoned me with BOTH them damn things before I knew what they were, once even costing me a life and forcing me to get a Rez. Needless to say, I repeatedly trained the idiot who called the little worthless POS up till he lost a level.

I have a policy now for myself, I refuse to group with ANYONE who calls it up, and if I am in a group and someone calls one up, I disband immediatly, or if i'm group leader, remove them from the group. It's singularly the most annoying creature to have around or be around.

Only fools and assholes use it.

if a 6 hp dot killed you, you might want to reconsider your game preference...

yes a 6hp dot contributed to killing my level 23 bard. Her regen was insufficient to keep her alive after a fight took her down to 4% health ( I got some mad agro because of my AE songs and wound up dealing with more mobs than I was prepared to deal with). I had been zoning out to a safer zone and didn't have the time to camp her out when a customer needed my help. I left while I had to deal with them, came back about an hour or so later and was very dead. Someone apperently had brought the little fugger up near where I was standing and he "donated" some bread to me. being as it was in a top level slot it was consumed BEFORE the other food I had in my bags ( I arrange my bags last slot first, leaving the 1st top level slot open for stat increasing food etc, which I didn't have at the time). Dotting me, and causing my death. My game preference had and has nothing to do with it. Using the 'food' is not optional if it's in a top level slot before any other food items in your bags and while standing, regen wasn't sufficient to keep me alive while the dot dropped my already very critical health. If I had had the extra half moment to properly sit or camp out my toon I wouldn't have died, but unfortunatly, I had to go afk before I could (I was actually in the process of zoning in when I had to go afk but thats neither here nor there.)

I hadn't "twinked' my bard. she was running with just basic armor i'd picked up along the way so I didn't have a great deal of hp to begin with, and no temp to fight with at the time otherwise I wouldn't have been even close to critical health. More than anything else it was just one of those things where, circumstances conspired against a relatively 'weak' toon and I died.

Even so though, it still brings my point to the fore, The "jester" is nothing but an insult as a Veteran reward, and anyone who uses it, is a damned idiot in my not so humble opinion and I sure as hell won't group with or be in a group with anyone who uses it.

At least it's not as annoying as those stupid LDoN traps that would wipe your entire group because some fucker wouldn't listen when told not to open chests.

AFAIK just about all guild banned the use of jester in raids and most pickup raid also frowns on jester. The only place you could use jester is in PoK or GH. I popped it once in the bazaar and I ended up with an irate gnome trader who was bigger than a typical troll =) seems illusion breaks trader mode somehow.

My guilds raids have always been a fan of jesters if its content we may only marginally win. Chance for instant full mana is awesome.

There is stuff I cannot solo without it. Mostly big game hunting. It's an ok thing to have but I agree sucks on raids. Annoys more people than it's worth.

I'll pop a jester if I know it will piss someone off. I think it funny when people freak out so hard over a 30min Jester. And it was not the food that killed you. It was the fact your working and playing EQ at the same time. You cant tell me if you were at home you would have died, you would just zone and sing health.

I don't understand how you can 'eat' an item of the 'Combinable' type. Only items of type Drink or Food are auto consumed.

Actually I was at home. I have a home office and yeah, had I not had a customer I would have turned on my song, sat down, popped a health pot and waited it out.

And technically, it was the food that killed me, although had I even sat down I'd have been fine. even just singing health song while standing woulda been enough to keep me alive, but yeah, had I had all my attention on the game rather than on a customer, i'd never have come close to getting offed by something so weak as a 6hp dot.

Remind me not to group with you... I seriously do hate the jester. And I honestly don't think that a chance at a full mana recovery or any of the 'other' boosts he can give, is worth enduring all the other BS he does more often than not.

It's been said more than once, but it is not food and you do not eat it. You can only activate it's buff or debuff by right clicking it when it's in your inventory and not in a bag.

There is no logical reason to hate jesters other than the fact that items can randomly appear on your cursor, that your size can change unexpectedly and that his illusions can dismount you. Also, you can check the item ID to find out if your bread or wine is poisoned before you click it. I think the poisoned bread is 64045 and the good kind is 64044, while the bad wine is 64047 and the good wine is 64046.

and those by themselves ain't enough reason to hate him? how about his incessant chatter? Anyway back to the bread issue. I never clicked the bread, but still 'ate' it. Could simply have been bugged, or some other weird shyt with my comp but regardless of what happened. I zoned and while zoning went afk to assist a customer, came back and was quite dead, and a scroll up showed only some jesters comments, and then the "eating" and the dot countdown to my untimely demise.

But honestly, all that aside. The Jester as a Veteran Reward was a major insult to everyone who got it. Some 'reward', an idiotic joker who is more annoying than useful. Personally, i'd like to beat the shyt out of the fucker who thought it up and then cram his code up his ass and run him off a short plank over a tall cliff. Then tar and feather the idiots who developed it, approved it and implemented it.

I hate the jester, and won't group with anyone who pops it. That simple.
