KissAssist Release Solution: Assisting Out of Group (OOG) or raiding with Kiss

Hey gang - I’ve taken to just going buck wild with what’s possible with conditioning in KA (I always invite feedback on any of the INIs I’ve published in the resources, and I have dozens more to come), and I’ve found a few boons, and a few setbacks, to raiding with Kiss over the last two years or so.

One of the more commonly asked questions I hear is, “How do you make KA change target quickly during a raid/OOG setting?”

Solutions abound. One easy solution is just issuing a /switchnow command - this often solves most problems. Personally, I use BoxHUD, and I can go into depth on that later if anyone wanted to hear other solutions. But, there’s always the MQ user who doesn’t want to click buttons, who wants it all to be handled automatically.

One quick-fix to this problem I have found is as follows:

1) Set up your MAIN group. Set the MA/MT, and run your (DPS/Group1) toons off the MA. Duh.

2) For the additional raid/OOG groups, do the same thing - set the group (and raid) MA, ideally a pure melee DPS class (BER/ROG/etc).

2a) Now, run the pure DPS toon from OOG group 1, 2, etc. off the MA from your MAIN GROUP.

2b) Now, run all your OOG toons off that second MA, and change the first XTarget entry on each DPS toon from “auto” to “Main Assist’s Target” or “Raid Main Assist’s Target” accordingly
—the solution here populates the XTar with the current target, yes, but it also seems to kick the AssistAt% into hyperdrive for super quick response times.

It’s not perfect, but for hybrid classes especially (which are the main target switch lag artists) this seems to fix most problems.

If this is unclear or whatever, just hit me up, but this seems to work for me running 100% KA!

Using XTargets can be extremely helpful in many ways. Here is another helpful use. OOG healers. Add an Xtarget entry for the MA. You will notice that the healer will respond faster to healing the MA on large DPS spikes. This method does not require turning on XTargetHealing.

Hey thanks! Great tip! Also, does KA need the top XTar slot to be open for XTargetHealing?

No. When you start kiss, the macro looks for the first Auto hater slot available, and uses that slot to determine if a mob has aggro. So if the 4th XTarget entry is your first AutoHater entry, then kiss will monitor that slot for aggro. And XTarget Healing slots are determined by what you list in the XTarHealList entry.

So you want to make sure that XTarHealList is matched up with what you have in your XTarget entries as far as pointing to targets you want to monitor for healing. Quick Tip: You can heal NPC's using XTarHeals if you set it up correctly.

Probably not the most effective but i always just setup a main team with 2 tanks, enc/bard, and 2 clerics and have all the other teams in normal configurations (tank/2x dps/bard/enc/cleric) and just have the tanks on the support teams assist the main tank in team 1 at 100…works like a charm. The bonus is that i’ll Xtar heals the main two tanks with the support group clerics…

With that set up the main tanks in group 1 hardly if ever die…and if they do the the support tanks and cc/healers usually battle rez and handle everything for recovery

Only con is pet burns when the mages/necros fire everything is a little laggy
