Skill ups

Is there still an easy way to raise melee and/or defensive skills? Pet fighting still work? I have no means to try it so i have to ask. Thanks for any input!

I beluieve if u are to duel someone with a pet and they also have pet hold that u could get ure melee skills up pretty fast without worring about dieng and such...and i believe that does still work but i am not positive

I think it still works...it did a few months ago when I tried it.
