Question - SK Question: 1h + Shield or 2h? (1 Viewer)

I found a nice 2h weapon with double damage of my 1h weapon and same AC as the 1h combined with shield.

Is there any advantage to keeping the shield when I solo the SK?

How about tanking a group without a shield? (in WoW only idiots do this but I don't know the mechanics of EQ)

If that is true then there is no advantage to using the sword & board.
Unless your present shield is gimp or needs an aug.

AC is GOD <-- True dat!!!

Just increased the AC of my SK from 6900 to 8100 and it made a wold of difference.

however if we talking a level 20 toon honestly it probably don't matter much what you use and I would probably go 2 hander until aa opens up. personally I haven't ran level 20 toons since I found bone chips about 4 yrs ago its too easy to level something to 50 or 60 and then start botting.

This is not entirely true as shield AC is counted differently than armor AC and is worth more, which is why you should always put your fattest AC aug on your shield!

So, to summarize the things I just learned on this thread:
1. I have an AA called "Shield Block" that gives a chance to fully block an attack when I am using a shield.
2. I have an AA called "Shield Specialist" that gives a dmg bonus to my primary 1h weapon when I am using a shield.
3. Shield AC is computed different from the AC on other armor so it is worth [AC stat on your shield + (HeroicSTR/10)]

So, to put it simply as mroutlaw did, "sword and board for tanking 2handers for dps"

It also depends on your toon and what you are doing, if you get raid gear and you are doing group content you can do pretty much anything you want. I tank HA's no prob with a 2 hander and a dress, don't even need discs for named =p
