There were times when I'd have just the hardest time finding things to harvest. And then I realized that I had my graphics settings turned down as low as possible. Now when I harvest in places like Antonica or Thundering Steppes, I no longer feel like I am missing half of the world's sites.
All that I had to do was change only one little thing, and suddenly the world opened up to me! I can see a whole bunch of stuff to harvest from far far away.
Move the level of detail over to the max of what your PC can handle. This worked awesomely for me. Yet, I recomend puting it back to the way you had it, when you are ready to go back to fighting mobs.
