Does anyone know how the little voracious bats work on this encounter?

My guild can pull and control redfang fine, and the blooddrinkers, but the little bats seem to get us everytime.

We've been grouping up tight and ae rooting/ae mezzing them with mages/wizards shooting off low level ae's to break the mezzes. Controlling those little bastards is our last hangup. Any advice? Preferably non-cryptic :P

ae root with damage component while mezed = instant depop of 5-6 a cast.
