Returning to the game, I am going to run a Paladin & Beastlord. Any tips or tricks on setting up optimal dps/would be appreciated. My Paladin seems to do almost no DPS he has full Endowed armor/wpns. Has roughly 10k AC buffed.

welcome back!

Returning users check out - MacroQuest Release Party: https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/macroquest-release-party.80628/ for information about changes from the legacy MQ2 to the new and awesome MQ

There are a couple of small, yet important changes with MacroQuest vs the old MQ2 as explained > HERE <

Moving to MacroQuest mental notes:
1. mq2map click is Control+Shift+Click
2. new easyfind self travel is Control+Click (reminder in find window title bar)
3. new easyfind group travel is Control+Shift+Click
4. If you selected a destination in your zone guide and want to activate it you /travelto activate
5. /yes and /no are now aliases
6. your ini configuration files (like for kissassist) now reside in your "Config" folder and not your "Macro" folder
7. if you want the functionality of the MQ2 "MQ2TargetInfo" - They are now in 3 separate plugins: /plugin groupinfo /plugin targetinfo /plugin xtarinfo

In my experience, Pallies are pretty low DPS, especially at the lower levels. At higher levels they can stomp all over undead, but don't shine against other mobs. Not that they are a bad class as they have many other great tools, just not high DPS.

2-hander will be much better dps than sword and board, as long as you don't need the shield for tanking.

Either way, with that duo, you can expect the beastlord to do most of your dps.

Hello and welcome back to eq!

I had taken a long break, came back and EQ alone had a lot of changes, the walk throughs are nice, not everything is answered, but it's enough to be dangerous LOL... that said, I definitely found that learning and refining the INI taught me the most; experiment here, ask a question here, apply it there, seemed to teach me the most about it... I really enjoyed the older INI websites that walked me through (though I believe some are out of date or whatnot... they still were a really great place to learn a basic knowledge)

KISSASSIST

Still one of my favorites for learning and quick reference, if there's better, I am unaware... another one I liked for / macro commands was

MQ2MOVEUTILS

Just a couple nuggets that help me sort it out... and then again, asking questions of the community here @ RG has been HUGE!

Good Luck and Welcome Back!

Welcome Back! If you're looking for some passive experience, the Overseer Macro is awesome. I've also found magellan-travel-utility helpful for navigation purposes.

I recently picked up MQ and there is so much to learn. Appreciate everyone's recommendations here.

If his pally has 10k AC then he is already lvl 120 so overseer is kinda just helpful for any missing collects or TS items. the only way you pally will ever beat your Bst is if you are strictly killing undead or you are using your pally burn and you Bst burns are down. I am kinda confused how you made it to 120 not knowing that the pally is a tank class not a dps. Most all of your dps will come from riposte, so if you aren't tanking your dps, even vs. undead, will be lower.

Pallies are GREAT...they make fantastic floor decorations all throughout norrath

Are pallies that bad? Are they Defensively better than SK?
Pallies are in a perfectly fine spot for what their purpose is, which is a tank. SK is usually going to out dps a pally, I'd argue they're similar defensively, but the pally does have the advantage of not having to attack to stay alive, whereas the SK uses taps. 99% of the time that's not a big deal, but occasionally it is nice.

*cough* I'm running a group of 6 pallies atm, about to hit 105, murdering undead is crazy dps.... murdering normal mobs actually isnt as bad as one would expect, I also have a Max AA SK & Max AA Paladin on a burn the sk (down to Harm touch will out dps him) no HT and its damned close.

Paladins self heal, combat rez, lay on hands, buff. Pretty awesome class IMO. Seeing how far I can take my group of 6. I've had no problems with murdering mobs just gearing 6 plate classes is expensive heh!
