Contest Redguides.com June 2019 "Best-In-Show" Pet contest (1 Viewer)

This contest is blowing my mind, I had no idea so many folks would contribute. We got to meet Hobo!!!

Congrats on the great idea @Sicprofundus!

Everyone on this site needs to enter ASAP

This is my majestic GSP Koa, in fine form on a past 4th of July. Fastest dog I have ever seen, smokes Greyhounds at the dog park on the regular...

We were in Texas and found in him a shelter a few years ago. He was just sitting against the fence, not barking just waiting for someone to pet him. there was no way I could leave him there. Been my buddy ever since.

Rusty, he’s the best shop dog I’ve ever had. If the boys are working, Rusty is sleeping nearby

LOVE the bubbles pic

That block fence reminds me of living in Phoenix --- we never realized our dog would need a nail trim until we moved away from brick fences lol (he would jump up to see over at the neighbor dog)

Thats when we were living in Las Vegas, lol and yeah I have to do nail trims now that we don't have the fence like that.

OMG! So many cutesters :-)

I do need to contribute here ...
First - my most reliable friend who dragged me through cancer and never gave up until I lost him to cancer (same type) last year at the age of 7 ...

And then - well - my current "gang" :-)
And yes - madame can be quite - well ... eager to work ...

Only a few more days left to get your submissions in!

Some real good pets in here!

Since the whole point about this post is to brag about how awesome your own pets are, I'll dive in. These are all rescues, strays, or abandoned furkids.
  • The top cat is the top cat, his name is Hello Kitty and prefers to go by the name of Hola Gato.
  • The one-eyed, mostly blind rag doll cat was rescued from a home that had 68 cats. A few surgeries later, he is living a happy life and demands my attention whenever I sit down. His name is Mike Wazowski.
  • The bigger hound was a rescue off a farm who kept him tied to a tree year round. He is a treeing walker coonhound that would not hunt, so he was exiled into The Grey while the other from that family were allowed to live inside. He just lost a battle with liver cancer, but he lived a full mischievous life the past 8 years with me. Duke was the most popular mammal in the neighborhood and everyone misses him greatly!
  • The little shih tzu mutt mix is named Magee after finding him one day walking on Magee street. This joyful beast followed Duke and I one day on a walk around the neighborhood. I brought him and fixed up some dinner for them while I called the local shelters and animal control looking for his home. The local shelter did not have any more room, so I told them I would foster him until the owners reached out. A couple weeks later, the owners called the shelter and I took him back to his home. About a month later I got a call from the neighbor about a dog being loose in the back yard. I run home from work and find Magee chilling out on the back steps. Naturally I take him in the car down to his owners house, only to find out the owners packed up and left. They just abandoned this little sweetheart; I can't really complain much because he is such an awesome dog and part of the family.
  • The undersized beagle is the newest addition to the family. His name is Joint Boy, named after a character in incredible Canadian show, Letterkenny! This little fella was training to be like his mother and father who were both award winning hunting dogs. His only problem is that he wants to cuddle with the bunnies and curl up on your lap. The trainer has been training beagles for over 30 years and for whatever reason the training just didn't stick with this guy. He is a little small for a beagle only weighing 16 lbs, but he is sharp as a whip! He taught himself to play fetch by dropping the tennis ball down the stairs. While not technically a rescue, the trainer couldn't find a good home for him in short order as most of his clients are serious competitors, Joint Boy is a fun fun fun dog!

Mish-mash here. Older pets from a couple years ago, we've lost 2 cats in the past year and a half, and the dogs are gone for other reasons now :( very :sad panda: there. We're down to just two rescue cats now. Dog pictures are a mix of parent's and mine, because folks' dog is just too awesome not to post.

This one is our feral rescue from the shelter. Flighty as all get out, but will purr the loudest I've ever heard a cat purr, and loves the attention if he trusts you and you can pet him, he's a fluffy butterball.

He has no shame:

Hands down best cat I've ever had, died this past spring at 17, getting misty-eyed sitting here looking at his pictures and missing him again damnit. Super trusting and affectionate, friendly and incredibly interactive with everyone:

Losin pets is real tough :( our cat Nebula had cancer, we had a leg removed, she healed up, then cancer returned and we had to put her down - her last moments haunt me - our current cat looks almost exactly like her, and its real hard somtimes - we still call Mulan "Nebs" on accident now and again.

Sorry to hear about your losses Toad <3

Thanks for sharing your pets tho!

Here's my sweet little rescue girl. 2.5 year old red nose. Rescued her from animal control at 4 months old.

My dogs peed on my floor twice the night before last and I think I ruined my wife's $1500 turkish rug trying to clean it up.

lol, so, thanks for the recognition here! Also, pray my wife doesn't kill me over the rug.

It's her fault. She should know not to own a $1500 rug if you have dogs!

That is literally what I told her.

p.s. ..... it wasn't helpful.

p.p.s. ..... she told me that the rug under our dining room table is the same thing... at $1500 turkish rug..... I told her "we're moving this immediately" lol. She was cool with it.
