Hey guys, I have a RL Friend that comes over to hang out and play his ranger. He hasn't played in a few years. He doesn't remember much at all about playing a ranger. So he really sucks....... I got him to 110 and geared up and spells. But currently all he does is either /autofire or melee once in a while. Maybe cast a spell after I complain that he's not really contributing tot he group. ))

Is there a good, up to date guide on 110 rangers that would help him? I don't know enough about them to really help much. I would love to see him really get back into the game.

Thanks guys!

You could also get him to use kiss to assist him in playing a ranger better =) Maybe he's just playing to hang out and would be fine with kiss doing most of the work.

basics to get used to using for him are snare when pulling, blusterbolt flusterbolt to kick them away if snare doesnt hold... playing with that will get him used to the fade it has sometimes...as well as using cover tracks! cant stress that one enough...have him play around with that, snare a mob, drag it around, cast cover tracks...see how that works. Thats the Trinity of playing a ranger there...the pulling basics, whether its for him soloing around or in a group.

Next is him knowing Weaponshield Disc... 18 seconds of pure nirvana! Like Divine Aura, but only for rangers! Shit hits the fan? Pulled too many mobs to camp? Well hell, just hit weaponshield, then click your gate potion and giggle all the way back to the corpse pile! :hfive: That'll teach that dam pally to keep casting Brells!

Oh yeah, his most important role? Job number one? You guessed it! Buffy! The ranger (once he gets into a raiding guild, which will really be fun for him if this is his first time playing eq) is constantly asked for buffs in tells before each boss and throughout the raid. No where near the scale of the poor shammy or chanter but...

On the everquest forums there is a section for class discussions. Hybrids. That's for him.

Max D's link is a good one by the way! Your friend probably isnt quite ready for that yet, but that is one of the better ones out there that explain the key bind process as well as ranger raiding 101.
