I am considering coming back after a year maybe 2 since i played with the new update is boxing still allowed or is the ban still ongoing?

MQ's status with dbg has not changed.
Outside of a few "ban/suspensions" due to plat, item, or xp exploits, it has been fairly mellow the past year+
Many of us continue to play as normal - keep a lowish profile, don't talk about MQ openly, keep to ourselves, don't exploit, avoid the sweet-sweet siren call of trying to circumvent truebox restrictions (or trying to force mq on truebox) and have little hassle. your mileage may vary.
Unfortunately, MacroQuest of any flavor is against > DBG's Terms of Service <
DBG's stance on 3rd party apps > here < 3rd party apps include things like MacroQuest and MySEQ
