Question - Question about renewing

I renewed my first plugin (MQ2Druid) today and I have a number of others coming up for renewal. However, I am a bit confused about the process and could use some advice.

When I say I "renewed", I actually found the only way to do this was to buy a new one. Right now, I do see a "Renew Now" button on plugins getting close to their renewal date (e.g. MQ2Shaman in the pic below). However, pressing this button simply tells me that I already have a license and therefore can't renew.

When I look at MQ2Druid, which has expired and is therefore ready to renew, there is no option to renew.

Is this intentional? Am I doing the right thing by simply going to the plugin page and buying it again? It works, so all is good - but it is a bit confusing!

Thanks!

There's some issues with "renew" ATM. @Redbot

Just buying a new one is totes fine.

So I just assigned a license, and then went to my licenses. I selected "Renew" and I got the following screen.

If I then ignore the notification at the top of the screen and select a payment method, agree to the terms, and select click the purchase button I get a new pop up that states
"You don't have permission to purchase this resource. It may be because you already have an active license, or perhaps you're not Level 2."

This error occurs regardless which payment method is chosen.
When attempting to renew I am renewing a license that expires at 5 AM. It is within the 15 day period assigned to the "early renewal". It should have allowed it, but did not.

When I attempt to renew an expired license I get the same exact message at the top stating that I already own a license despite it being expired. But when I select the payment method, agree with the terms and conditions, and hit purchase it opens paypal or stripe payment methods to complete the transaction.

To Summarize:
You're unable to renew an existing unexpired license even if it falls within the early renewal period.
You are able to renew an expired license, but the message at the top is a bit misleading/confusing.

This is message is merely to document steps taken under different scenarios to assist with diagnosis and correction of the issue.

I would recommend waiting until a license has expired and simply using the renew feature ignoring the message at the top for now. Buying a new license will create an entirely new license with it's own start and end dates and you would also have an expired license for the same plugin which has caused some confusion in the past with users renewing an expired license for a plugin they already have a valid license for.

So in short…

After it expires…

fixed, huge thank you to @ChatWithThisName

I still need to iron out the purchase for friends issues, shouldn't take too long.

I was able to test renewal with an expired license, and with an unexpired license. Both work as expected. I've sent PM's to burd to try to determine the issue with his renewal of druid.

@ChatWithThisName there wasn't an issue...the EQ server just became allergic to @burdsjm being good in a class...

That particular license was bugged for some reason. I invalidated the expired license and it let him buy a new one. The renew button just wasn't there for him for whatever reason.

Purchase for friend fixed, and error messages now make sense. I believe all bugs are fixed, please let me know if that's not the case.

Hit renew on existing license on test account. Shows that I can buy for friend with a link. I hit link. It seems there was a typo, and it says I have an expired license when I have an active one. When hitting purchase without a name in the slot it says I already have a license correctly. If I type a name into the box it will let me do the transaction.

So minor glitch, says I have an expired license instead of an active license.
