Purity?

What does the Purity status on the new armor mean? is that a new way of saying if you fight these type of mobs you have this much extra AC?

Effects the level of stats that get added to power sources for the gear. Higher purity corresponds, I believe, with higher faction. Other than that, I have no clue! Got love when they add crap like this without much explanation.
