I just came accross this on the eqtraders board. This is for those who are cheap and want to rip off their fellow players!

1) Set up a barter mule

2) Offer to buy an item for some highish amount (106pp)

3) On the same mule offer to buy the same item for very low (1cp)

4) Put the low priced item in the higher bag slot (like you would stat food)

5) Traders who sort by price and don't check will run to you and click sell before they know they just lost their ass.

but then you get that ojne tool .. who catches ya .. and sells ya 999 at 106pp ... lol

not a bad scam though
 
well just set up qty: 1 on the 106pp one and qty: 999 on the 1cp one. :p

I can't imagine it is. I mean, you're not really breaking any rules. It's not your fault someone didn't pay attention. It's not using any 3rd party software. But then, it's been a long time since I read the EULA.
 
lol i bought 100 Ebons for 1PP ... and someone saw my other buy lines.. and used them up .. lol .. but the 100 for 1pp RULES .. makes it all worth it ..

I highly doubt it because the system was set up to do "tiered buying," and it's the seller's responsibility to check prices before they hit "sell." Let's say you want to buy cinnamon sticks, and you need 5 of them right away, but you also would like to stock up on 20 more for a reserve. One may set their first buy line of 5 sticks for 10p a piece, and the second buy line for their reserve of 20 sticks for 1p a piece.
 
I would do this on a fresh toon if I weren't me. On my server this kind of thing will crank up an hour of ranting about ethics. I know because sometimes I am the one ranting... ...and it will get you a quick rep as a dishonorable player.

I'm not telling anyone how they have to play, but just think about who you are hurting/helping here. Trashing mobs with no risk is great, heck if I found a duping exploit I would be all over it and rape it for all its worth, but conning another RL player out of plat is just something I would never do.

Just something to consider...
 
Hehe this sounds like something fun to do while I'm away instead of running the bard macro, hopefully I can milk some crystals out of some people.
 
dont understand how this can work... I place to buy 2 sets of radiant crystals and keeps placing the 100pp on top of the 1cp one even if i set the 1cp one first....... Edit ok nm after adding in more items it worked /smack

Think about it, we're not shafting SoE/Sony in any way here, just the average player... maybe some poor kid, like my 10 year old daughter who's learning how to play the game...

I also agree here, cheating Sony is one thing, ripping off innocent folk is another.

Okay okay, it is pretty bad to hurt thy fellow players. But getting 100 ebons for 1p? That's nuts!
 
It's kinda funny, cause I noticed quite a few submissions for access to the WoW forums include scamming fellow players, and no one seems to have a problem with it. I'm glad there are nice people playing EQ.
 
Never played WoW myself, but I heard you don't have to work hard to get far in the game, so maybe that has something to do with it. EQ actually takes work, and it's better to work WITH your fellow player as opposed to working against them. I guess that makes me a hypocrite for posting this in the first place! :o
 
when barter was first set up i had it figured out in about 15 minutes of going live so i set up a barter bot for people to learn on and i set a lot of items up aor 1cent and got a lot of cheep stuff.
i also set up a fungi selling on server for 75000pp i asked 7000pp i did not get one but got a lot of tell from peeps who almost sold it :P
 
ps: everyone knows you do not use your main for this you use a lvl 2 barter bot and delete it when it gets to well known. :P
 
eh, I'm with the others, I'm at about 2million plat and running, from an exploit against sony.. I really don't need the plat from players ripping them off.. Think I'll just stick with exploitin the real enemy. Thanks for the info though... Its good to share with us not so that we may use it, but now we know to be cautious. ;)
 
LOL when I used to play EQ , on my stoned and drunken nights. I would try to sell my orum for highest value and find out I sold 600 orum for 10k... HAHHA all I could do was cry.

Alway been easy to do this. But there is such a tool on Tunare, has his buyer set up to raise all prices for the stuff he is buying from the highest buyer by 5 plat every 25 minutes. 6 or more hours is hard to notice, but every 25 minutes he is begging for a GM to catch him.

Or he could be looking at his computer every 25 minutes and manually raising his prices. Could be using an alarm clock.
 
Impossible, too many items to change buying price in such a short amount of time. Over 16 items changed in less than 1-2 seconds it took me to search on a couple accounts. Soon as you update a price, you also have to scroll to highlight a new item and put in the price and so fourth.
 
Personally I do not care if he does or does not. I said he was a tool and I meant exactly that. In fact anyone who uses MQ for their buyers are my tools not only for maximum profit, but also quick short plat. MQ and /buyer just does not come anywhere close for making profit. All it does is minimize it as your up against Monica Blowsinski for plat behind the computer seat. Not some dumb Shyra who does not have a clue whats hitting him or a hoard of pooka's chasing you in circles.
 
Hmm, if such a Bot was runnin out there, I'd have a blast with it. Match his timer for updating prices, raise yours to some astronomical amount while watchin in 3rd person so u can drop buyer window if anyone runs up. Drive his prices to some insanely high amount on something cheap you have lots of, then sell all of em to him. Then of course go back to a normal price.
I'll be checkin out buyers on my server for this today rofl, if I see one, they're gonna be broke broke broke by the end of the week lol. Again it's one thing to screw the game, but when ur runnin the entire market so you can control supply and demand on an item via software, you're gonna be the target.
