So does anyone have any tips or anything of that nature for P99? RL buddy of mine convinced me to play there. I've got a lvl 8 Iksar Shaman. Just looking for a good leveling path, ways to make plat, things of that nature. Also, I'm thinking about making a hard copy of EQ Atlas. Either that or turning it all into a pdf, or series of pdf files. Thoughts on that?

Back in the days I used to farm GEB's with a 3 box team (PAL/DRU/ENC), they sold for like 4-5k a pair.

Everybody liked golden plate look on their casters /nod

Dunno if you can box on P99 btw, I remember seeing threads where I saw it's hard to set it up, but I am by no means an P99 expert hehe.

I double checked the FAQ on P99, multiboxing is not allowed and is a bannable offense.

I reckon a hard-copy of EQAtlas would make a pretty penny in the bazaar forum.

I'm not talking about the one you could buy back when PoP came out. I'll be printing the maps out from the site and putting them into a binder or something. So not sure of how pretty a penny it'd make lol.

Oh no boxing allowed, nothing for me then hehe :D

EQAtlas maps printed out into a binder, I miss the old days :S

I have an char on Red99 and would like to play there, but tbh, since you wont find any groups at lower levels you have to grind it by yourself. And i would like to play an cleric. Thats shitty hard.

Kill undead. That's how clerics soloed back in the day, and you can find good undead grinding spots from 1-60.

I know, but you will find undead grinding spots from 1-60 has to be taking with a grain of salt. Because, you could say : Go to befallen (There i am currently), but 12+ you have to go pretty deep in.. And one resisted lull = pretty much dead. It's possible, aye, still pretty hard :) Having a group would be better.

And back the day clerics didnt really solo'ed. They were allways able to find a group.

If you are willing to grind off of blues, the Chessboard in Butcherblock wouldn't be too bad. Less room for disaster as compared to Befallen.

Kurn's Tower is also a potential spot, but may be a bit of a pain to get to for you from here.

From there, I'd probably start pushing in to Unrest around 15-16 or so. Beetles, while not undead, are good targets at the get go. If you can link up with a higher level druid for Shared Wolf Form, this will really help a lot, as wolf-form is no-kos in Unrest. Unrest can take you well past 20 to even 30 depending how long you feel like not changing scenery, especially lower down.

Lower Guk would then start to open around 30, depending on gear. Might want to wait a bit longer. I've always hated dungeons, but being handy with a root and a line on the zone line can help a lot.

If you are suicidal, 35+ or so can start to mess about in Kithicor Woods at night too for plentiful undead! City of Mist can really start to shine too, but there are lives to mess with as well, unfortunately.

It really is slim pickings with just Vanilla and Kunark. I'd never go back, myself, too many good improvements outweigh the bad from the past multiple years. But best of luck!

Good tipps, thanks alot. Unrest is a problem, lots of pk'ing going on there. And a cleric is an easy target. The common advice was : dont play an cleric as an first char.. Play an ENC or NEC. :/

Ah. Then always keep a root, a fear, and DA up. Drop one on them or you, thumb your nose at them, find the zone line. Never been much of a PKer myself, but yeah, that zone seems it could be a bottleneck-death trap where it's located.

I play on the PVE server (blue I believe). Right now, other than a good leveling path, I'm looking for something to give me a slight edge in making plat.

There are plenty of groups all the way through your leveling path on blue, especially if you stick to US primetime. A typical group-heavy leveling path on P99 would be:

1-12 Gfay/CB
1-12 Ecommons
1-12 FoB
12-24 Unrest
12-24 Oasis
12-20 Kurn's
20-30 LOIO
20-30 Warslik Woods
24-35 Guk
24-35 Mistmoore
30-40 Frontier Mountains
30-40 Overthere
40-45+ DL
46-50+ Karnor's
52+ Old Sebilis

There are of course other zones and I tried to give two zones where they are applicable, but the ones I listed are almost always heavily populated and healers find groups easily. If you're a monk, good luck getting groups while you lfg with the 340823492034023 other monks.

On an iksar shaman I would follow this path:

1-12 FoB
12-22 Kurn's
22-30 Warslik Woods
30-40 Frontier Mountains
40-47ish DL
47-52ish Karnor's

Then get keyed up and mix up some howling stones, old seb, karnors, and chardok if you have aoe group hookups.

Also for making plat, there are quite a few guides on the EQ99 wiki that point out big plat camps as you're leveling. Sisters, bards, etc. Once in the 50s it's generally best to group in old seb unless you are a boss and you can solo in HS.

I have a low level druid PM me if you want to group up sometime!

I play on red, it's funny there. Just not alot players.

Well, I've got a Druid now. Kinda gave up on the Shaman for a while. Too hard to get to all the needed places where I won't get killed by guards. Druid is 14 though.

Depending on your class, Rathe mountain Hill giants can start at 38 or so all the way to 48 for decent exp and LOADS on plat....gets pretty safe to hunt there after 41-42 and usually not overcamped. Easy 400-500 plat an hour depending on how crowded it is

Thanks for the tip. Just gotta get the motivation to play more. Loving the class. Just wish RL wasn't such a hassle.

You will easily find pickup groups on red99 if you follow CB, Unrest, MM, CoM as IMHO this seems to be the route taken by many chars. Not much in the way of loot but fast xp. Clerics are loved by all.

since they opened up Velious, most of the PKing crowd moved over there. Sticking to old world/Kunark ought to limit your exposure to them. Conversly, it also means most groups are over there... heh.

The P99 WIKI has a lot of links to various guides to help out, though it gets swamped now and again (not always available) And there are of course the older sites still up and running , like EQAtlas.

P99 is all about stripping down the EQ client to get closer and closer to "release" experience though. A lot of stuff will be off/funky. Stuff like GINA still works though if you are looking for some help with audio triggers/timers.

Outside of that, I had decent luck starting out in Steamfont, nice level range there, and plenty of folks running through dropping off random gear. Move on up to Mino's near the ZL... (good cash) then moving into LFD to hunt sisters (decent cash)... or Crushbone to collect... either belts of shoulderpads.. forget off hand ( again , decent cash... your major obstacle =P)

------------------

P99 has a decent port support system... if you want to get a decent toon leveled up to make money for other alts... I would recommend a Druid. Folks drop 30-75pp for a port there, not to mention buffs. With an active E Commons trade going... you can gear up your druid (after hitting porting levels) fairly fast and easy. After that... Mr Druid can collect gear for the next toon
