No Patcher - Trying to make work - need help (1 Viewer)

Ok I know this info is right.

Going through the patch server every time you start EQ is really time consuming considering the inordinate amount to files that it must search through now. So here is a way to bypass the patch server:

Go into your EQ directory
Right Click eqgame.exe
Left Click "Send to Desktop as Shortcut"
Close all folders and go to your desktop
Right Click the new shortcut
Left Click Properties
In the Shortcut tab place the following in the Target line:
"C:/Sony/YourEQDirectory/eqgame.exe" patchme
You may can leave the quotation marks out
Your installed directory may be different---The shortcut will be correct
In the General tab, call this EQ No Patch
Click OK
Just remember that when you know there is a patch, use your normal EQ shortcut to get the patches. The "no patch" method will really save time though if you go LD and get kicked to desktop.

Here is my problem and maybe you all can help me

I am deployed to Iraq. And the port to the patcher is blocked....

So I decided to try this no patch thingy and see if I could get EQ working.

I get to the server select screen and then it tells me I lost the connection to the patcher.. try again

My questions:

1. Does this basically mean with out the current patch I am Fooked?

2. Is there any way to get patch files with out the patcher?


If I do get this working I am gonna kick myself... 9 months with out EQ /cries




*** note I was home on R&R at the end of may for 2 weeks.. so I am patched up to then ***

Can you FTP? I will be a hugh hassle because the patch was large and it will be difficult to get all the right files in one place to bring you up to date. But if you can FTP, I might be able to put some files out on my share at freewebs...

I have always wondered.. There is no place to just download the files?

They would have to come from someones computer then huh?

If it is a big hassle..then don't worry about it .. i will be home within the next month.

I was just real curious if I could get this to work behind the blocks put in place 8-)

ok FTP or emailing the changed files each patch.. is only other way to get the updates

/search /c:/program files/sony/eq for the date of patch

or pay for an FTP site to host the files u need

or have a friend with FTP server.. lol
