Not sure where the correct place is to ask these questions, so mods please let me know if I should be posting this elsewhere.

Trying out Very Vanilla and MQ for the first time, and there are dozens of different plug-ins available in the "PlugInManager vxxxx" (currently 1908) window in game. Some of them green (presumably active by default), and others red (presumably inactive by default). Is there a one-stop shop for looking up what each of these plug-ins actually does? I have looked through the install directory looking for any kind of readme or faq file, and have come up dry. I have watched the 5 starter videos, so I have some broad concepts understood, but I'm not up to speed on command syntaxes, which plug-ins do what, etc. If anyone could point me to any more in-depth resources to help me gain a better understanding of how to optimize my utilization of VV and better understand how to take ownership of utilizing the different plug-ins, I would be most appreciative. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may offer.

Hopefully the info below will help

Once you have an idea of how things work, you'll want to look into some automation options. Check out Kissassist Beginners Guide, Kissassist Commands , RGmercs, and especially cwtn plugins ( you can also /testcopy your toons and use the cwtn plugins there for free and you'll want to spend some time looking at CWTN Plugins Explained.).

I suggest getting your feet wet slowly and be patient as it takes time to absorb all this information. Try taking your toons somewhere safe and lower level at first and explore the automation options. It takes some time to get used to, so don't be surprised it if feels overwhelming at first.

Once you feel like your're getting the hang of it (or to get a more in depth idea of what this site can do), then check out the macros and lua's available to complement your automation. Things like buttonmaster, mq2autogroup, MQ2Autoaccept, MQ2Status, GuildClicky, Boxhud, and more. You'll also want to see Lua event manager.

How do you get to see and experience all of this you ask? You need to be a level 2 member. To do that you have 2 options. First, you can subscribe (paid method) or second, you can use Red Cents. What the heck is a Red Cent you ask? Red Cents can you help with your subscription and it's the currency this site uses. Contribute helpful information (post here) and others will give you red cents and each red cent you give others returns one to you. check it out! Red Cents

Time to subscribe to level 2 and begin a journey you won't regret. Lots of info and a super helpful community here to help when you get stuck.

I still consider myself a very recent subscriber. There are A LOT of helpful people on this site; however, this response from @psymorph is one of the better ones I've seen.

Often times when I skim through threads, responses tend to be very succinct and sometimes don't provide much additional detail to assist you in your troubleshooting; however, Once you get it to work IT IS MAGIC. Unfortunately, I simply don't know enough and have all the same questions you have so I won't be able to add any value here.

Though I'm very grateful to @psymorph's contribution here.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. I try to post things I found relevant and helpful as I learned and continue to learn from this community. The best advice I can give looking back really is patience. I had very little due to the excitement of what I was finding but over time I found out that I needed to take one thing at time to learn what it did. Also, identify something you want to be simplified and then search for it here. Odds are someone has thought of it already and made a tool to help. If you're not sure, always ask because there are so many here that monitor the posts at practically any hour and are quick to respond.

Thank you for all of the responses! Especially to @psymorph and @Robban. The resources that psy talks about will help me get a good overall understanding of things, and looking in the individual plugin threads will help me gain the fuller understanding of the capabilities of each plugin. A plugin is only as useful as your commands vocabulary, unless you're running it straight out of the box. Learning the commands for each plugin will help me trim the features I don't find helpful and activate others that I would like to use. Thanks for making an FNG feel welcome.

EQ is complicated, and by extension MQ is complicated and then some.

Things take time to feel like you have any footing underneath you.

just go slow, remember that you don't know everything, and try and assume that you're doing something incorrectly before giving up that something is broken or doesn't work.

our discord server is pretty active, and is a good place for simple 1-off questions - many of us will not only help you, but also explain and show you where to find the information you need to be able to have figured it out.

in no time you'll be super competent and in a little bit of time you'll be giving help and advice to other new comers!

welcome and enjoy
