I know I've seen videos with multiple units navigating to the same place, so it's probably my setup - is there something I have to configure to get /nav to work for background characters? My foreground character uses /nav fine, but the rest sometimes don't do anything, and when I alt tab to check they start moving.

You need to make sure that the eq client isn't set to "min cpu" for background frames.
Max both frame settings in the EQ client.
Then, set up MQs frame limiter.
This usually solves these types of issues.
If it doesn't, please let us know.
Thanks! Haven't done a full boxed group test yet, but with just one running behind firefox so I can watch it, it seems to be working now.
That frame limiter is some sorcery, too. 2-4% CPU is nice.
Is there a faq/guide somewhere something like "so you've been using this for a couple months... here are the top 5 massively impactful things you didn't know to look for"?

I have not seen such a faq, and unfortunately, the last person to ask a similar question (hey, what should i know?) got bombarded with conspiracy theorists talking about bans and whatnot...
Anyhow, I definitely think that more attention should be brought to the frame limiter in general, given how often we have to inform people of it here... or maybe it is there and they are just missing it.
Maybe I will do a quick guide after I make sure something else like the faq/guide you describe doesn't exist (there are a few more things that regularly trip people up).
