Hey Gang,

Hopefully there will be some old timers on here - I'm hitting 50 next year and have pretty much given up on time-sink games (well, nearly all games in fact (Raid Shadow Legends and Marvel Snap don't count))! However, I recently was chatting with a 21 year old chap who I was trying to explain what made this so great to play! We talked about the trains, the trolling, Fansy the Bard, NToV Ring event and running across zones to kill the Avatar of Rallos Zek in Kael! So many fun times!

So I thought I'd ask - what's the state of the game now? Is boxing still frowned upon? It looks like there's still an active community on many servers - is it viable as a ftp game or is a subscription still necessary for best results?

I think I have an account or two somewhere but I need to re-download everything. Live servers, classic or even P99.... what to do, what to do!?!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and that KA is still strong!

What's new?

Nice

howdy nice!
hope you and the fam is doing well. Congratz on the big 5-0 next year

boxing has never been disallowed (outside of requiring multiple pc's with truebox) botting is, was, and likely forever will be against dbg's ToS.
there are still a good chunk of folks who play eq and a good portion of those use MQ (at least 150% of all active subscribers use MQ, totally for sure :eyeroll:)

dbg has started to do "truebox" into "relaxed truebox" into "regular live" servers which is pretty sweet for folks who like that OG flavor of EQ.

EQ has gone through a bunch of technical stuff the past year or two - and unfortunately still haven't ironed out all the hiccups.

always a good time to fire up eq and see how that itch gets ya

Sorely tempted Sic... Is Kissassist still a thing (Maskoi - legend)?

I'll see how my time goes over the next couple of days and download when I get my new fibre to property mid-January... downloading anything at 20mbits is proper shite with all the screens and consoles/ pc's in the house so getting ramped up to 500mbits will be a Godsend!

yep kissassist is still kickin, ctaylor maintains it

I noticed another thread that I wanted to ask one more question...

I ALWAYS went to my original server whenever I played and never played on different rulesets. As I'm going to start again, should I venture outside my comfort zone where I might meet up with people I used to play with and just start properly fresh on FV? I feel that it might be beneficial so I can just jump in and the ability to get raid items through bazaar seems appealing!

What are your thoughts chaps?

So I've got 5 accounts all started with toons on my original server - I got about 6ks worth of those loyalty tickets (the vendor in pok that allows you to buy a bunch of pots, gold tickets etc). Original server also has some decentish oldschool items I won from the Casino in Shadowhaven and about half million plat. I can let those bits go as I don't see the point of transferring anyone (if that's still a thing).

So... FV this time? Any point in adding another account or maybe just boxing three toons with mercs to make it a little less obvious when I'm semi-afk? Obvs I can go down the caster route but any suggestions on a nice setup would be nice - Bard is a given and probably SK as I loved swarming back in the day (again... that might have been nerfed). After that maybe a shammy... I'm really unsure!

Going to the in-laws now but subbing to level2 access when back so I can start setting everything up... if you guys can give me a few options over the next 4 hours, it'll be appreciated!

Hugs,

Nice

I'd say go for 6 right out of the gate.

I started with 4 and then spent awhile bringing up two more out of sequence. Wish I'd just gone with a full group right away!

Maps downloading... getting close now. Just the other accounts to make, create toon, think of some clever name for each one that I think is great but everyone else thinks is obvious and crap and then amend all those lovely inis!

Do you guys use a specific UI or is it good ol' classic eq windows?
