Question - My stupid question of the day ....pulling manually

So the vast majority of my return to EQ has been me playing with myself..........

I grouped with a buddy last night, and ran my four guys on chase and kinda managed to get stuff done as we moved to flag him into TBM content., but one thing that constantly annoyed me was pulling with my SK who was tank/mainassist/puller ....he would run towards mobs once engaged and cause some issues now and again.

Is this a KA setting? Maybe the chaseassist or chasedistance setting? I'd like complete control over pulling, and for KA and MQ2Melee to do its thing once the mob arrives.

Thoughts?

Make a hot key that does /mqp and pause while pulling a mob and unpause when you get the mobs in camp.

Then set the SK not as tank and designate it to assist someone else and run another toon as tank. The sk should still get aggro.

I run a group of 6 constantly, but love the KA help. 5 toons Run KA in Assist mode, and i have them follow my SK (i use several tricks with this, but not important).
I do however run my SK manually with /kissassist manual (targeting myself but not sure if it makes a difference)
/buffson
and because I still use MQ2Melee /melee aggro=1
This allows my SK to cast his buffs when they drop, Allows me to steer him and pull as I wish, and MQ2Melee doest "stick" to the mob until I hit meleeattack, and I can retarget/change targets during combat if/as needed.
I use holys/downs to run much of my "burns" and a few of my combat things, but I usually run my taps manually (haven't figured out how to actually get the DPS section to turn on).

Anytime you have a toon marked as tank or pullertank, it will engage any aggro mob within campradius. 2 things you can do:

1) Don't start the SK as tank/pullertank. If you are manually playing the SK then no need to have to it pull, or even be setup as tank. Set it as assist and simply manually engage, it will give you more control (like Wink said). You can still have it marked Main Assist, and have the other grp members Assist it, and they will do their thing as soon as you turn on melee.

2) Reduce campradius. Dangerous to do if botting, but if you are manually controlling the SK, and still want it started as tank/pullertank, which I don't suggest, you can reduce campradius so it's radar has a smaller radius. /campradius # allows you to set radius on the fly. Start with 30 and work your way down in 5 feet increments until you get the behavior you're looking for. Don't forget to put it back when you are done or you risk problems the next you AFK bot.

Meistro, you can issue a /dpson 1 to turn on the DPS section on the fly.

Ok, so sounds like all I need to do it /kissassist Skname and have him set as main assist in-game, but not tank or puller and I would be able to control him movement wise more during pulls.

I think I'm gonna give that a shot. Thanks Incog.

Meistro's suggestion of running in manual mode is sound. If you are still not getting the behavior you want by using /kissassist SKName, then you can try /kissassist manual. Manual starts KA with pretty much everything off, with the intention that you would turn on the various 'sections' you wanted to use (DPS, BUFFS, MELEE, AGGRO, AE, etc etc).

So you could /dpson 1, /buffson, /healson, /meleeon, /mezon, and /peton. Those are the one's I know.

Mask has eluded to there being 'seekrit' commands, but I have yet to ferret them out... I am guessing they have to do with directly manipulating the otherwise unknown ToggleVariable event passing in an internal variable name and associated value. I can see enormous power there in theory, but haven't spent time on it to ascertain practical application.

The more I think about this, I don't think KA will let you target yourself unless you are tank/pullertank. So you might be relegated to trying manual mode.

Also check your MQ2 melee settings,

What I use on my paladin is set stickbreak=on, its not perfect he will try to go into combat but once I keep moving I have full control. Then If I afk for a quick sec after that mob is dead mr paladin can do his tanking and what ever. If I ever need to reposition mid combat this also makes it easier because I can break my stick whenever and run around. If you want to stick again just have a hotbutton /stick 10 (or what ever distance you like)

stickbreak=[on|off]
If on, it will allow you to break stick with keyboard movement keys.
