Because RedBot asked for more nerding out. I just built a new rig for le games.

CPU: Intel I-7 4770K Haswell 3.5 GHz
CPU cooler: Zalman 9900A
Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z87
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 760 2GB
RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400 DDR3
Sound: Creative X-Fi Titanium HD
Case: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I
PSU: Antec 650 Watt
HDD1: Samsung 120GB SSD
HDD2: WD Raptor 10k RPM 300GB
DVD: Some old HP DVD burner I had.
Monitor1: ASUS 23.5 1080p LCD
Monitor2: ASUS 21.5 1080p LCD

Running Windows 7 64 Ultimate. The only thing I can't turn on is Ubersampling in Witcher 2. Every other game runs like water on max max settings. Total cost for the new parts was about $1100. The PSU, WD HDD, DVD burner, sound card, and monitors were all used in my previous build.

You don't have problems with a little 650W PS? Those are some hefty components.

Also, when it comes to sound quality, Sound Blasters are barely better than onboard sound. Turtle Beach sound cards can get audiophile quality for very little money. Probably not worth it to get a dedicated sound card unless you care about quality (or there are driver issues)

I just ordered my set last night.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 4.0GHz (4.4 GHz turbo) Eight Core
CPU Cooler: Coolmaster Siedon 120m
Motherboard:GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3
GPU: SAPPHIRE DUAL-X 14-202-099 Radeon R9 280 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5
RAM:G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
Sound:Onboard sound.
Case:RAIDMAX Vampire ATX-001WBTi Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case
PSU:EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 B 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified 750W
HDD1: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB SSD
HDD2: WD 1TB 7200rpm
DVD: Asus
OS: Windows7 Pro

Will be adding another 16 gigs of ram next month to be at 32 gigs and I have full fan slots filled. Total cost $1303 Shipped. Along with about $85 in MIRs

Well I saved $215 in instant savings /sales on newegg. So price before anything was $1520ish. So between MiR's Istant sales, and promo codes I will be under 1250 on a complete system.

A good read on the 3770K vs the 8350 is here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-core-i7-3770k-gaming-bottleneck,3407.html.

The basic conclusion is that the 3770K is a better value unless you get all the other components for free. That is, the AMD processor costs less, but since processor cost is such a small percentage of total system cost, it's worth it in general to go with the performance upgrade you get from the 3770K. Of course, this is high end gaming; for sub-$1000 rigs this is more noticeable. Also, it is interesting to note that Radeons pair better with Intel CPU's since AMD's graphics cards rely more on processor power than Nvidia's.

I got the 8 core because I mainly just play eq. And with winew running each session on a different core I think it will be better suited for my needs.

I have an i7 (4xxx series so not directly comparable to these two processors), and I get 8 cores with hyperthreading, which isxboxer happily supports. I'm pretty sure wineq does, too. However, in the end they are both pretty powerful machines that will be plenty powerful enough to enjoy, the rest is just nitpicking but interesting (to me at least).

Hehe The 4770 was much higher cost between Mobo/chipset. I was on a budget really. I am excited to get playing on a new machine and set this one up for afk =)

This is the truth. I actually got my computer (a Clevo P157M laptop) because I needed a powerful machine for work. I can run simulations and process data anywhere in the world now. And run EQ simultaneously....

im still looking for that program that spits out all your computer info neet and tidy like , then ill post :)

Look up Piriform (a software company ) and download "Speccy" from their website. They also make other lovely tools like CCleaner and data recovery tools.

Speccy will amaze you with the detail it gives you about every damn thing in your system. Hardware, serial numbers, temps, version numbers.. etc..

Example.. the main window just shows info on each pieces name/model etc.. but if i go to the hard drive section and look at my hard drives.. this is the info for my first hard drive...
