This has to be BS, I only started useing MQ2 a little over a month ago. I got this last email on the 12th. I only finaly got this reply after I forwarded a couple of these emails to eqmail and complained I wasn't getting answers. I haven't sent another reply yet. Still deciding what I want to say or admit or not admit to. I might just wait until the 15th.

Greetings,

Since the beginning of the year we have found over 16,000 entries in our logs of your character instantaneously traveling between locations to exploit encounters in various zones. This account is still currently in the review process and we do not have a definite answer if the account will be terminated for this offense. If you do not hear from us by May 15, 2005 please feel free to reply to this email for an update on the status of your account.

What actions can I take to fight the suspension of my account? Can I see what prompted this?

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment. It has come to our attention from our various resources to show that your account has been linked to using a third party program to travel anywhere within a zone without risk of harm. Since the use of third party programs is against the End User License Agreement(EULA) we have no choice but to suspend your account with review for termination. I have included a copy of the relevant portion of our EULA for your review. If you have any questions you can see the entire EULA at http://eqlive.station.sony.com/support/customer_service/cs_EULA.jsp

BY PRESSING THE "I ACCEPT" BUTTON, YOU ACCEPT THE AMENDMENT TO THE USER AGREEMENT AND SOFTWARE LICENSE BELOW. BY PRESSING THE "DECLINE" BUTTON, YOU DECLINE OUR OFFER, IN WHICH CASE YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR RETAILER REGARDING ITS RETURN POLICY FOR THE EVERQUEST CD-ROM. If you have any questions regarding these terms and conditions, please contact customer service at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>.

9. You may not use any third party software to modify the Software to change Game play. You may not create, facilitate, host, link to or provide any other means through which the Game may be played by others, such as through server emulators. You may not take any action which imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure. You may not buy, sell or auction (or host or facilitate the ability to allow others to buy, sell or auction) any Game characters, items, coin or copyrighted material.

We always regret taking any disciplinary action against our customers, so we ask that you please review the above as well as the rest of our policies, which are located at http://eqlive.station.sony.com/support/customer_service. If you have any questions or concerns about our policies and procedures regarding the use of third party programs, or if you have any other questions, please feel free to reply.

Thank you.

I got a message saying this morning that the account was suspended and to contact customer service.

Sorry to say it. but you were using MQ2, and you did break the EULA and unless you were just handed the mq2 files and told to use them then I am pretty sure you knew that there was a chance that your account could get suspended. I am sorry to hear about your bad news and that really sux that your account will prob be terminated. but could you maybe fill us in on what plugins your were using and how you were using them so as to avoid anybody else from duplicating the mistakes?

I have seen a large majority of bannings due to "we have found over 16,000 entries in our logs of your character instantaneously traveling between locations ", when in reality they were ghosting.

What plugin's were you using?

Again, don't get greedy when using MQ. Its a tool. If I can get to the mob, kill the mob without using MQ, I do that. After 3 wipes, I fire up whatever if I have to. I use it alot as 2 box tool also, reduces big time stress 3 boxing and such.

There was a day that I hated going LFG because I needed a group to even grind a certain exp zone. MQ has freed me of that (well that and 2/3 boxing). In a raid, I use the map to track stuff, and thats pretty much it (no I wont even /warp succor).

I went to GE the other day and noticed a druid (lvl 37 there). I /tell'd him and asked what a lvl 37 was doing in a 50's zone. He asked if I had a problem with him being there, I said - "no". No doubt in my mind he was /warp target -z5000 (no i didnt have MQ up).

To summerize, there are players out there that absolutely despise us. They will turn us in in a second (which could of happened to mr 37 dr00d). The GM's are improving their tools in this cat and mouse game. MQ'ers are playing the game at two different levels because of this, against the environment itself and against the gatekeepers. One can kill your character, the other can kill your account. Consider this when you load up MQ....

seems to me that the majority of all the suspended and banned accout info that people post in here is mostly due to /warp. I personally do not use it at all, but I know alot of you use it successfully every day. I just have that bad gut feeling that they have purposefully (even more than they may have been before) cracked down on detecting /warp. Unfortunately this plugin I think was given out to WAY too many people that use it now in areas that it should have not been used. I personally saw it myself used in Gulf of Gunthak just last week. Right in front of everyone. Standing by the lighthouse, the player vanishes (and there was no casting). I take off running for the beach on my way to Nadox and he is standing on the water line. I think......hmm ok let's see what he's doing here....Again no casting....he vanished. I run to Dulak ZL, and he is standing there. Now, I can't prove this was /warp since I personally do not use it, but I can't for the life of me think of what else it is when there was no casting involved. This is what I mean by the wrong people using it in the wrong areas. I am very sorry to hear though that your account may be banned and I am not accusing you to be one of those people, sorry if it came out that way.

From everything I've heard (all second/third-hand, my accounts are still intact) ghosting is getting people banned more than warping. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part cause I don't use ghost, but I certainly wouldn't start now...

not exactly how the ghosting works but seems to me that warping very quickly must somehow be a part of it as all banned accounts ive seen were for ghosting yet they all said the they logged the excessive number of /warps. im really thinking its a ghost issue and not /warp--yet since all of this has come about i just keep my trader up. i got too much invested into my accounts to lose them. i would advise all of us to just put /warp & ghost out of our ind for a while til it cools down.

Yes, You are screwed if you get that email... go buy eq platium and start over. More than likely another player saw you doing it and reported... or you were using ghost one of the two. I've been reported a couple times... both times for my infamous afk warping macros lol. When you suspect someone reporting you... best to lay low... either don't play or don't use mq. I gennerally don't play for about a month if I have someone report me... I log EVERTHING so if my macro shuts down I know why... If i get alot of Player Nearby couple days in a row I don't use my macros. GMs almost never pop in the zone as a GM when inspecting an afk macroer... generally they just look like another player. But just like drinking... use MQ responsibly.

Geo, you're correct

the excess warping is a byproduct of ghosting.

If you get the email, you're not getting your account back when it's a 3rd party program. Sid got away with it because he was able to say it was a geometry bug and they didn't have the server parses.

Using /warp now and then isn't going to get you caught - that's just like a hiccup of lag to the server. But when there's 10,000+ instances (in some cases as on my old guild's forum, a person was banned for only having 2,000 instances in a week) kiss your account good-bye. There's a chance in a couple years you might get it back as they recently let those banned back around Velious return, but for the time being, get out of the house and enjoy RL.

Since I've got banned, I've done more in a week than I did in 5 months in RL. Really it's a blessing being told I'm not welcome in everquest anymore. The lame thing is they didn't ban my mage (Grrr) who was also ghosting and in the same zone as me. I might as well sell him.

Try telling them you do not use third pary programs and that your interernet connection is crap and that you get tons of lag spikes, which can account for some of the ghosting that they claimed you have done.

Mostly just warping. The night I got suspended I was ghosting in ikkinz. The weird thing is though, I was two boxing and a friend was with me. He uses MQ2 also, so no he didn't rat me out. Only my ranger was suspended. His berzerker, and my cleric I was two boxing were not.

There's no way I've warped 16,000 times. I only started using MQ2 two months ago.

If I do get banned I'm going to try saying I'm really laggy. Also going to tell them to check my gear. There's no upgrades for me in ikkinz, so maybe that'll convince them I wasn't doing it. Who knows.

Was gettign tired of the ranger anyway, and been playing the bard more.

Were you using arrows to kill mobs?

I see that ghost is having probs, that sucks major, that was the reason I made myself my own ghost plugin using a diff script than what was stolen from cronic. This is the reason i dont release it, its to much of a use for me to throw away since i can cast with it. I may release it later when i get some use out of it but i dont need that many other people killing solro before me hehe

I hear ya its nice to be able to tell peeps what ya do or give them a cool plugin but man there are too many people that dont care and get caught. Which in turn brings the heat down on the exploit =( but oh well i knew that plugin was kinda risky so i never used it. lucky me i guess
