Question - MQ2Cast :: Cast from bags w/VoA

Could use some testing with this, it appears to work but more eyes the better. Save your existing mq2cast.dll in case you need to revert. This *should* allow /casting of items from inside bags without having to exchange them. In my limited testing it was ok, report any issues :)

Even if you don't have VoA you can test it out to make sure it doesn't *not* work at all.

If you need to swap in an item that cannot be cast from inventory just add -forceswap as a cast option.

trying to test your updated MQ2cast using Kiss for my cleric's clicky buffs. I saved the old mq2cast.dll file, deleted my MQUI_bagwnd file from eq folder ui, loaded mq2, loaded EQ, loaded the toon, got in game with the toon, manually exchange/moved my clicky items to my 32 slot bags(so toon is other clickies not listed in his kiss ini) popped his merc, ran /mac kissassist on the merc and cast the first clicky on the list and then crashed. any thoughts?

You'll still need the MQUI_Bagwindow file. If you still crash after replacing that let me know and I'll post a version with debugging enabled. When I tested I only replaced the dll, I didn't touch anything else (ui or otherwise).

Ok Sym i did what you instructed about MQUI_Bagwnd file and reloaded everything like the above post and Kiss did all the clickies perfectly no issues or crashes. thanks for the new MQ2Cast.dll. ). Red Cent good work.

ok, so i loaded this, and i don't see a change... it still swaps to an open inventory slot, or if there are no open slots it will swap to the usable slot.. i.e. waist etc.

should i be using something other than /casting "Name of Item" item ?

I recently got flamed on the MQ2 VIP Forums for asking this ;) Anyhow some kind soul responded after DKAA flamed me, saying do not use exchange or cast. If that guy wasn't such a genius I'd call him a jackass... err scratch that... he's a jackass that is a genius.

Here is the solution instead of using /casting or /exchange, simply use the following command that interfaces directly with mq2.

Rich (BB code):
/nomodkey /itemnotify ${FindItem[your item].InvSlot} rightmouseup

That's a good line, I like it.. but for legacy purposes, I was under the impression that under the hood thats what mq2cast is going to handle if you have VoA etc.

I'm going to reboot and try again

Did you get this working?

That's exactly what it does under the hood. /casting an item will /notify it as long as you have voa. That's the only check it does so anything that actually requires to be equipped will fail to cast. I'll have to address that at some point but it should be rare to need it (hopefully)

Nope, it's still swapping out to the item slot or an open inventory slot even after a full reboot..

Anyone having random lag freezes since using this or updated autoaccept/aaspend? Game is unplayable for me with mq2 loaded after I rebooted.

im not having lag, but aaspend still doesn't reset the AA window. i did notice that it doesnt accept reses anymore which is nice :)

Hmm ok, I'll check the code for the window reset. I thought I had added that. Been a long week at work so I may have overlooked it lol.

New version updated. Added -forceswap command to make it swap in items for those few things that cannot be cast from inventory.

I was doing the reclaiming argath mission yesterday and noticed it I had to manually equip the arm cannon and battle orb. Made it much more annoying :)

Can you please give an example of this command so i can add to the help file.

Rich (BB code):
/casting "Arm Cannon" mainhand -forceswap

This will make it equip the item into mainhand rather than trying to click from inventory. That item must be equipped to be right clicked. Even when slots are specified it won't swap to them if VoA is enabled. I'll see if I can find a better way to handle it but this gives it a way to work in the meantime.

Maybe look for a quest tag on the item?

From last patch

- Nearly all items that previously needed to be equipped in order to activate their spell effect should now be useable from your inventory if you are capable of equipping that item. These changes intentionally exclude a number of quest and bane items.
