Can someone give me advice on what the best settings are for MQ2melee or in the MQ2bot ini to get my melee dps to do the following: (2 beasts, 1 ranger, 1 Pally)?

I want them to attack and stick to the mob without going past them but at the same time not sticking so close that I get the you cannot hit message.

Sometimes the dps melee runs past the mob, then comes back to attack, etc. Is this because they are trying to get behind the mob?

I don't have a sophisticated understanding of how these plugins work?

Thanks all,

Sounds more like an issue with lag. The system is moving (your melee) toward a moving target (the mob) and can't quiet adjust fast enough. I fixed this in my custom macro by delaying the attack until the mob stopped moving. Not sure how you would fix it in either of those plugins.

Not sure it's a lag issue. I did learn this: when I use /melee stickmode=on the toon sticks to the mob without moving however it does not adjust if the mob moves around with regard to which way it's facing. Thus, sometimes it's not facing correctly to hit the mob.
If I switch back to /melee stickmode=off it again starts adjusting the facing but sometimes goes past the mob and must turn around. While going past and readjusting it loses dps time. Also if fighting on a bridge or platform, the toon sometimes falls off while adjusting.
So it seems it may be an issue of adjusting the movement amount. Again I probably don't understand enough about how this works.

I don't know much about mq2bot but for mq2melee you need to tell it how you want it to stick via the ini

Try these commands on a mob and see if you like how they act.

/stick behind once

/stick 10 snaproll

/stick 10 snaproll rear

I didnt know anything about snaproll til Maskoi put it in KA, and it seems to be the goto now

!front or back works better for normal areas as I think it looks less bot'y and should do what you want

snaproll works well for tighter areas or bridges etc...
The issue with not using snaproll is like bridges or if you are in a doorway, it will try to strafe around your target, possibly falling off a bridge or getting stuck in a doorway

http://www.redguides.com/docs/projects/mq2moveutils/

/stick snaproll [ left | right | face | rear ]
  • runs in a straight line behind your target then turns to face
  • left/right/front of target if optional parameter direction supplied
  • rear is default

/stick set snapdist #.##
  • Default distance to run past target before turning to snaproll
  • Valid: 1.0 or higher
