Hello. I recently started boxing a group with Mage, Wiz, Enchanter with the mage pet tanking. Is there a way to have my characters back away if they accidentally grab aggro or if they get too close to the mob? Thanks.

That is feature we are currently working out the bugs in Kiss 8. Official release date Jan 21, 2014

Wouldn't setting /melee backoff=98 (Your bot would back off if it's health dropped below 98%, not perfect for dumping aggro but might help)work in a situation like this in the interim of new coding in Kiss 8?

EDIT: MQ2Melee would be the plugin used to make this setting change. In case I wasn't clear in that explanation.

No. Kiss shuts off all mq2melee pet functions and handles them via the macro.

Is there a way to "disable" this feature with KA8 while keeping the pettank role setting? I have my Mage's role set to pettank so he sends it in ASAP even though I have a tank in group. However, this is causing the Mage to try and move back constantly now which has created some awesome trains in Arx Mentis :D

When you say "move back" are you talking about him moving away from the mob if he is being hit while in PetTank role?

Please be specific.

And if that is the case... NO, you may not disable it.

PetTank and PullerPetTank roles are designed to move you slightly away from the mob that is beating on you.
You only move 25 paves max away from mob, as the pet is told specifically to attack that mob beating on you.
You should not be moving very far... certainly not far enough to agro other mobs (are you too close to them to begin with?)

Keep in mind that where ever you start the mac is the camp that TreeHug's code will use to calculate where you need to move to if you get hit too many times. So, if you plan to set your mage pet up as pettank, then start a heroic adventure... say Into the Hills and you are at the very end killing mosquitoes/blobs and you get hit, your mage may try to run all the way back to the zone in. This is what has trained me multiple times. pettank role is not sophisticated enough handle the general way that mages manually play their mage using the pet to tank.

I take slight offense to that statement.. lol

And the only reason your mage would ever return to the spot you started the macro (your camp) at..(when not being beat by a mob) is if you have ReturnToCamp enabled.
For all intents and purpouses, pullerpettank is designed to pull to your camp.. not be a roaming camp like in hunter role.

Sorry, yes, I meant he will back up from the mob. The problem in Arx for example are the small rooms and hallways so even backing up a short distance may aggro. What I've also seen is that he will attempt to backup but then get "stuck" on the wall and keep trying to move back even though he can't... essentially making him useless at that point because he will just keep trying to run into the wall and won't attack for the rest of the fight.

The only reason he is set to pettank despite not tanking is because the pet won't assist in a fight until 80 - 90% even with assist set at 98 or 100%.

To me this statement seems odd as if something is enabled or not enabled in your ini file. I have a beastlord who always engages the pet at the 95% assist I set his owner too.

I did more testing with this using the Mage pet as the actual tank as the role is "intended" as you say. It was an open area outdoor zone so there weren't any small tunnels or door to get hung up on when moving if the Mage got hit. Well, even in this huge area, if the mage got hit he would marathon across the field and just continue to try and run unless I manually stopped him. Returntocamp setting is not on. So if he's only supposed to backup 25 paces that is definitely not what I'm seeing.

Still no clue why the Mage will assist at 99 as set in KA but the pet won't get sent in till 80 - 90%. I posted about that before and the "fix" I was given was to use pettank setting but that was before the changes with KA 8 and no longer works obviously.

So I'm assuming you were in pullerpettank role .... and pullwith=pet.
I say assume ... because I don't know your ini config (cough ... respond with it .. cough), ...

But if you were pullerpettank mode with pullwith=pet ... you want ReturnToCamp=1 (on). Thats a given.

LOL I only said it because I know you have tree bark thick skin! What I meant is that pettank isn't for dungeon crawling and maybe more for stationary camps. I too had the marathon running mage (will post INI if I ever get back to my computer) and she did t have return to camp on. In the code it says I got hit, returning to camp! And as best I can. Tell is that's her bind spot and she's running three continents to get there! Haha

No, I pull with a PC (not the Mage) and use the pet to tank. If the Mage gets hit and tries to backup, that's when he goes running across all of creation or into a wall

So here is a question for the devs, if someone was to monkey around with the /melee options of MQ2Melee when engaging KissAssist would KissAssist work from the settings people have monkeyed with or would KissAssist overwrite those changes?

Update "NVM Maskoi answered this earlier":
No. Kiss shuts off all mq2melee pet functions and handles them via the macro.

If this sounds convoluted I am sorry. Only reason I bring it up is because it sounds like something in MQ2Melee is enabled that may be overwriting the Assist behavior of the Mage Bot.

Something like:

Rich (BB code):
petassist=[on|off]
Will send pet attack on engage and backoff on enrage/infuriate if those options are enabled. The plugin will also use /pet hold if you have that AA.

petdelay=[0-30]
Will not engage pet until [x] seconds has passed.

petrange=[0-150]
Will not engage pet until mob is within [x] range of your pet.

Feels more like pet range or pet delay is causing issues.

This all speculation, I have KissAssist with the most up to date build and my pet classes all engage as they should when the Assist class reaches it's AssistAt percentage.

I noted a few other things..

Melee Distance is at 150 which is kind of high, I usually stick with the default of 75.

DPSSkip and DPSinterval are low however I haven't monkeyed around much with those.

PetCombatOn is set to outer but shouldn't it be set to 1 or 0?

And Surge of Shadow Rk. II|melee is Melee an option for specifying who is buffed or not? I know MA and MT are.

I made the adjustment to melee distance. The PetCombatOn setting just appeared in one of my last updates and I did not personally select that. I could not find the appropriate description for it at the time so I left it alone.

Surge of Shadows seems to be buffing correctly with that limitation but I supposed I could change it to just the MT. It was just my matter of preference.

You are thinking something in MQ2 melee is the culprit? It's pretty bare bones already.

It may not be MQ2Melee. Based off what Maskoi said earlier in the thread KissAssist overrides the mq2melee settings and all my points would thus be moot. However I have made changes to my character's melee ini before via the plugin and had things stick so I am kind of on the post about it, for instance I have tuned hide and sneak on and off and saved and even with KissAssist running it still used those functions. Only other possible thing I can think of is go back to the basics of troubleshooting and do a full rebuild of kissassist in another folder and run that and see if it works. For Instance I have c:\MQ2 as my MQ2 folder I made a new one on the rollout of KissAssist 8 (C:\MQ28) and had to rebuild all my inis again but I did this in the event I had anything stale from older versions of KissAssist. It's just a thought.
