Hey guys,
I did not want to put this question in the level 1 area, maybe it doesn't matter. I'd imagine DBG has people in here also. Anyways.. I thought Baz max was 2 million pp, I saw over this weekend someone selling (its still up right now with multiple Krono now listed in his sell list. The person has it listed as 2.1 Mil, I tried to put one to sell for the same, even tried 2 mil 1 cp and nothing seemed to work. today I was curious and tried to see if its a bug or something..if I attempt to buy it show as 210,000p as parcel fee. Bug or hack? Thanks for opinions.

you can edit in the bazaar price ini file in your everquest folder to go to the max value of like 2,147,483 because of the 32 bit max value of 2,147,483,647

you can't edit it in game tho

But in case I didn't make sense - this isn't a hack or a bug and has nothing to do with MQ2 or anything like that - just some dude editing the file in his everquest folder

Thanks Sic, I will think about it..I used to be a krono seller for like 3-4 years on a Live server until it went up to 2 mil, then no more profit..that was some years back when I had been bored playing EQ, but still my EQ bug was still in me, so could not leave. Now I have KISS <3

cute doggers btw

Hmm I was not aware of this limitation, interesting?
Can you in person trade for more than 2.1Mil?

Can someone offer you 3Mil for a Krono? How would you do that without one side risking getting screwed?

Someone correct me if I'm incorrectly answering...but I recall dev's answering about the computer bit limit in the forums a long time ago, hence why its limitations. Which is what Sic mentioned above. But we can hold and transfer to each other more than the baz is limited to.

Edit : thanks Sic, believe it or not someone abandoned that little girl at around 4 weeks old. Was a miracle my daughter just happened to hear a tiny whimper in some tall weeds . I was only gonna nurse her to good health and give her to a good home...she suckered me, still with me years later.

You can in person trade for higher amounts. I've bought 5+ krono for 10m pp and that works fine.

Redfrog/Sic are correct. It has to do with all prices being coverted to copper as the base value when it is stored server side for vendors/bazaar vendors. As Sic mentioned, around 2.1m pp, the copper hits the max storable value and so prices are "safety" capped for vendors at 2m pp. The bazaar trader toon uses the vendor code.

I didn't know about the file edit trick, that's cool.

The devs tried some horrible work-arounds by introducing Nobles, which were an expensive purchasable item (100k?) that they hoped people would use for high-end item trades. But they left in the vendor discount on buy-back, so somebody always lost 10% of the value. Either the Seller ate a loss when they converted their Nobles back to pp, or the Buyer had to over-buy Nobles to compensate for the expected loss. It was not well received.

For some stupid unknown reason (lose me with technical limitations of a 20 year old engine, this is what you get when you hire junior level engineers as EQ pretty much has taken in anyone willing to live on pauper's wages), they decided to use 32 bit SIGNED integers for some values were SIGNED integers make no sense, in this case exchange of currency, id est Bazaar and parceling platinum. (Currency storage, as I've been reminded by Dannuic, is done in 64 bit, though you'll experience issues long before you hit that limit.) To help understand the difference between signed and unsigned, think about your life bar. Your life should be a signed integer because it can be less than 0. (In the old Magic the Gathering Online, life there is stored as a 32 bit signed integer as I hit the limit using exponential cumulative maths, fun stuff).

Currency can not be negative in EverQuest. I can think of no situation or hypothetical you can have less than 0 currency. There is no debt system, I can not parcel a debit, I can not borrow imaginary platinum on my bazaar mule to pay back at a later time. STILL, even if they had used a 32 bit unsigned, there'd still be a limit of 4,294,967,295 cp, or 4.29 million plat.

The solution of course is to use an organic new currency that can be converted back and forth between new currency and old currency. And this new currency would be a fiat currency, the king's cash. Hell, they could call them, I don't know, Nobles. This currency can be freely exchanged at a bank between platinum and nobles and can be used in bazaar in the free exchange of goods. But the problem still remains, DBG is in the fine tradition of hiring any idiot off the street. They tried doing this made a complete cockup out of it (as EQTrader74 stated), ignoring all logic and reasoning on the solution.

As far as in person trades go, I've done 99 million before without a DC from server. Eventually, you will get a DC, but I havne't figured out what that point is yet.
