Problem - Kissasssit freezing instances of EQ

I just got a new comp so I'm wondering why its happening.

It freezes when building a new ini. Just give it a few seconds/minutes/hours/days depending on how shitty your computer is and it'll fix itself.

Yeah, what the Doc said; When a new (or fresh) build of KA comes out and it senses the version diff it builds (or rebuilds) all the aliases. For some reason, this takes awhile and everything is kinda locked until done. Not a big deal unless you started a shit-ton of toons at the same time.

It does not freeze during the building section.

It freezes randomly during gameplay. And the window is stuck there basically until I reboot my computer, I end up not even being able to force the window to close.

And no items

So it seems to happen with all Redguides related macros, afnuke2, autoclerc, kissassist.

I removed everything did a fresh install and still happens.

This is one of the INI files even with something as basic as this.

It doesn't seem to matter which macro/role/anything that's happening any eq with a macro running using redguides compile will freeze randomly, and all at the same time. Anything using no macros or something like mq2bot runs just fine through it all.

Have mq2log on with with /debugall running waiting for it to freeze again, it's so random when it freezes it can happen 20 mintues afer I start running macros or 20 hours. Normally 2-5 hours inbetween freezes.

^ My computer, so it's not struggling running the eq's. It freezes with 2 instances running macros or 10.

If anyone has any ideas I'd open to listen. I really miss kissassist

I am not seeing anything that stands out as to what could be an issue with kiss causing the issue. Have you been able to get a debug log when it failed? more than one log? did it fail at the same place in kiss?

I have this happen from time to time myself. It usually happends after I have been running for awhile and start flipping thru characters.

The only thing I seem to see is it happends mostly (for me) when the graphics get used heavily and the computer (laptop for me) heats up. Thats when I will have one (or more...have had up to 12 go at once) freeze or lock up where the only fix is to reboot.

If I have been running without a fan, and I don't give it time to cool, I can (and has often) froze again almost immediately upon logging in all characters again.

So maybe you should check your cooling ability or your computer...dust it out, get another fan on it (house fans blowing on it does help), move it away from the wall or from under the desk and allow it to get air (or if a laptop, get a better lap fan).

This happened to me the other night when i was tabbing between toons and a browser. My entire pc locked up. Honestly thinking about going back to win7.

Last night I had my group of 6 up and a web browser with like 6 tabs and my CPU was hitting and staying pretty steady at 90% usage. I have a i5 2500k @3.4 GHz and 16 gig of RAM. RAM was fine at about 7-8 gigs.

Not sure this is a kissassist or MQ2 issue - I have a comparable computer and have had eq lock up or stall without anything from MQ2 running. The most common factor I've found is large changes in graphics. This happens with even one instance of everquest running. I've been playing with settings and suggestions without too much luck, but have in some areas been able to minimize and restore the window and it runs again.

you might try playing in the same areas as you've had lock ups without MQ2 running to be sure of the source of your lock up.

I have graphics set on the lowest possible settings. I play with pre luclin models as well.


I was wondering if it was heating up (I do live in Texas) so I set a fan on it and it seemed to run through the night.

Time to buy some more fans I guess.

I don't know why it'd be overheating I'm normally at 20-30% CPU usage and 50% ram

I had a problem like this and it turned out to be something corrupted in the MQ2Melee file. I deleted everything in the Release folder related to that particular toon, started fresh, and it all worked fine.

Also if you're doing a bunch of /q to leave the game rather than a full camp, you'll get corrupted files that lead to this issue.

Having this exact problem - only happens when I am running Kiss. eventually the comp will either completely freeze up, or BSOD.


UPDATE. blew out my entire tower last night and tried it again overnight. no crashes. I also made sure not to zone or move the toons other than in camp, and just used KISS. so maybe it is just a heat thing (in my case)

Ive had this issue a few times. I noticed when Id /kissassist it would freeze up during the self check and get as far as Ninjaloot. So I deleted my Ninjaloot file and re downloaded it and it worked just fine. It would happen on toons running kissassist but never froze my toon running AFNuke2, all on the same computer at the same time.
