Question - KissAssist DPS, Buffs, and things relating to spells and spell gems.

Greetings everyone! Hope the Hunting is good. I have a few questions I have not seen answers to or explained in the forums. First off I think I kind of understand how the buff section works in KA. You put the spell in and when not in combat the spell is memorized then cast. Then the next spell is memorized and cast. Till all buffs have been cast. (if this is not how it works please let me know.) So you do not have to have any of the buff spells on the spell gem bar. (I hope I can explain this right) Now in the DPS section (here is the question) Is only spells you have on your spell gem bar go into this area? Example: I have Flame Bolt in spell gem 1 and I enter this spell in DPS1. or does the spell not have to be on the spell gem bar?

The reason is I have been looking at some of the KissAssist ini files on the site and I have been trying to update them or add to the classes that are missing low level ini files as my group grows up (Paladin is one). While looking at other examples of the other classes and there ini files I see that some have spells in the DPS section that are not on the spell section of the ini file. (looking at Necro Lvl 70 ini) The spell gem bar holds only 9 spells but the DPS section has 9 entries. The Burn section has 5 spells in it and the Heals section has 4 spells in it. This adds up to 18 different spells in the ini file. So another question is does the Necro (during combat stop, sit, and memorize the other spells to cast (if not dead yet) or does it work somewhat like the Buffs section?

A little off topic I have noticed the different ini files for KissAssist, MuleAssist, ModBot and Core. Since I am still learning things about KissAssist (their is a lot to learn guys) I have not tried any of the others but MuleAssist looks good. Any suggestions about which one to look at and try? I am also looking at trying some of the ones made by ChatWithThisName.

Buffs will swap out spells into MiscGem slot as needed during downtime.

DPS/Burn will stop and mem a spell if it's not on the spell bar. So you'd ideally want to have all DPS on the spell bar, unless it's like an extra DoT or something and you're OK with the downtime to swap it in.

Heals I'm not actually sure if it will swap a spell in. For Heals I would definitely give them permanent slots on the spell bar. You don't want to waste time mem'n.

Overall, try to build an ini and spellbar together, so that your core spells are always up and even some long refresh buffs (like knights HP buffs.)

If you're liking KA, MuleAssist is very similar though you can't exactly swap ini files anymore. But the sections and such are roughly alike. Mule added some cool stuff like it will prioritize pulling Named and you can have some OhShits that will constantly check, like a instant self heal or other emergency things.

IHC & Chat's plugins are basically all pre-setup. No ini needed, unless you want to change some things. You just start them and they sort out what spells/abilities you have available and set up the toon themselves.

ModBot and Core are more technical on the setup, but can do some customization stuff. Worth checking out, but not the easiest to start with.

Thank you so much!!! This gives me some more stuff to think about and how to use. I have been basically doing that putting in the spells that I will use and then adjusting the ini to it. Though I now have more spells than slots to put them in and have to understand first what I want to do and where I want to go and then set up the spell bar and then the ini to assist. Like I said their is a lot to learn and put together but I keep plugging away at it. (picture dog with soup bone).

Thanks again for the explanation.....

I have not gotten to the AA's, abilities, or clicky things yet... Got to understand the basics first before I expand. That goes with conditions. I am just starting to learn about them and how to use them. But again thanks and looking forward to more help.
