Question - KA & Dungeon Crawling

Ok folks...

I use KA and the plugins associated with it pretty much exclusively to play with my 4-man team and J5 mercs.

I have started playing with a buddy, but he is kewl with the whole automated thing. That said, I look kinda stupid when I don't control my guys so well.

I play my SK as Tank,MA,Puller with KA running. I learned about the breaksnap setting the other day, but even that I'm not sure about because someone said to change mq2melee to "on" but the setting is numeric by default.

My ask is this: what suggestions do you have to make this run smoother? Will chase on/off fight while "on", is /stick still my best way to get around? Can I use the come to me command to get best results? What should I set camp radius to, what about return to camp etc.

Just seems a little akward, and I am betting I'm not the first person to experience this.

P.S. I should have prefaced this a bit: I have been using KA at static spawns exclusively so this is new for me.

Thanks all!

/chaseon seems to work the best for me when dungeon crawling. It will make my caster's get up if they are medding and it makes the melee toons go back to following you after mob dies. If you just use /stick you will have to hit it again after every fight to get melee back on you...and it doesn't work well with casters whem they are trying to sit

Edit* what is breaksnap?

When dungeon crawling i do /afollow with some distance (depends on dungeon and curviness for distance) and a /moveto hot key as well. that way the casters will stay back from fight a lil bit, but if they are too far i can pull them up.

I do all "stickhows" on assisters as "loose" and "snap" as off, so melees will go to mob, not try to run around him before attacking, and the casters will just assist without necessarily turning to the mob (looks more like legit boxing to me).

Can you expand a bit on your actual settings for snap and loose?

Thanks!

yes please. i have issues with my melee dps running around the mob before engaging....also, how are you using /moveto ? whats the correct syntax?

edit* also does a stickcmd line in the mq2melee work with the stickhow in KA? or does 1 overwrite the other?

edit* looks like KA overwrites any stickcmd in mq2melee....is there anyway to use the stickcmd while running KA?

So on the character you're running you want a hotkey
/bcg //moveto loc ${Me.Y} ${Me.X}

What this will do is tell everyone in your group to move to your xy, I only use the chase when actually running and killing at the same time. When I crawl a dungeon I move to a new spot press the moveto button then pull stuff, run to a new spot and repeat. And rather than chase on or afollow when running through a zone I honestly just press that button every now and then, this way if I all the sudden see a named i don't think about dropping auto follow or turning chase off I just drop the bots pull the named.

You also want to be running eqbcs or the /bcg command wont work. If you are running multiple groups the g is important in the bcg unless you want to drop multiple groups in one spot then I think its /bca.

oh right on...i wasnt sure how to use it..if it was x,y coords or paces or what.. ty

edit* i see this still runs into issues with casters that are sitting and medding...always a few stubborn ones that dont wanna get up and make me spam the key 12 times.

toric has ther move to correct.

as for the stick how:
in the KA ini, in the [Melee] section for my melee toons i have StickHow=Loose
For my casters i have StickHow=0

I don't normally use KA chase feature much anymore as i need to turn following on/off alot when I play and that feature can/has been a bit troublesome at times.

Yes for me EQBC is an absolute must.

picking one toon out of a group

/bct ${Target.Name} //moveto id ${Me.ID}

Honestly, this is the only issue I have with KISS. I wish there was an easier way to keep the toons parked in a camp (and returning to their spots after fights) while sitting in a particular spot, and then an easy way to get them from point A to point B and setup another camp there. I've tried /camphere 0 and /camphere and all that jazz without much luck (perhaps I'm messing it up). /returntocamp needs to be on to keep the group bunched up where I set them up. Currently, if I move them away from their camp with a /moveto command they will turn around and sprint back to the spot they came from. Maybe I need to play with the /chaseon command, *shrug*

Sum1, /chaseon will automatically turn off ReturnToCamp (and as mentioned above, makes those sitting get up) so its quick to get grp moving. I have 2 hotbuttons, one for chaseon and another for /chaseoff AND a /camphere which of course sets current LOC (keeps them bunched up, returns after fights, etc). When ready to move again, just chaseon. It works well unless you have members of your grp on another mac. AutoCleric works well with the KA style chase cmds, but iirc AFNuke2 not so much. When using AFNuke2, I use the leash and attach him to say the cleric, and the cleric responds to the chase cmds so overall it works well.

Does afnuke2 leash back to a camp if you move the toon too far away? I could use a /chaseon and /chaseoff AND /camphere for the toons on KISS and autocleric, and then issue a "/bct <toon> /mqpause on" and a "/bct <toon> /moveto ${Me.X} ${Me.Y}" sort of series of commands for the dude on afnuke2.

I don't like using leash/stick because breaking it seems like a pain in the ass (or has in the past for me).

Re: KA & Dungeon Crawling

Ah, in this particular case, its leashed to a toon, rather than a LOC. It's still a little alien to me in that sometimes I move my cleric and for a second wonder WTF the wizzy is doing following... So no need to do any hotkey gymnastics.
