Hey All!

This looks like a blast to use the MQ software, but wondering if the implementation of it looks dauting. I managed to figure out ISBoxer...eventually...but I don't know if this will prove to be more difficult to figure out. Can anyone give any feedback on it for someone who is maybe not so tech savy doing tons of marcros and plugins? Not worried at all about paying a Sub. Where does one start; do you download the "vanilla" if you are looking to 6 box?

Welcome to RedGuides, fellow EQ multi-boxing enthusiast!

The best place to begin is our "New User Guide" video series, click this TV to watch:

This step-by-step series will teach absolute beginners how to control 6 characters at once while highlighting Nav, AutoLogin, and DanNet, which are fundamental plugins that will enhance every aspect of your game.

If you figured out ISBoxer, you will find this even easier once you learn the commands you like. Says you joined in 2020, but guess you never subbed for level2 until now? Well.. firstly Congrats on making the decision, and welcome to RG , the true fun of EQ. The level 2 sub allows you to use the main MQ 'flavor' they build here, included is TONS of plugins, macros and Lua scripts, each one is something you may or may not like and use. lots of variety but all leads to your choice of tools, in theory once you watch the learning videos off the main page, you can make your 6 box crew all do a /wave or /dance. You just entered the big time, load one thing at a time see how it works out, read about each resource (plugin, macro, Lua) in their post on the forum, and ASK in those forums. No question is too silly, learn and chat...and also try Discord.

If I can use it anyone can. Seriously I'm not being self deprecating. I suck with directions and like to just jump in. There's a bit to learn. But the point of learning is to make the game easier.

i myself am not software savvy either, like others have said here WATCH THE VIDEOS in order. by the end of them you will have a very basic but solid foundation of how MQ works. and once you take the plunge youll never go back. it changes the way you look at eq forever. and it makes you wonder why it took so long for you to decide to use it =)

if i can suggest one thing (once you watch the videos =) ) copy your group over to test server where you can try a lot of the paid plugins like cwtn for free before paying for them etc. playing on test allows you some further access into the RG world before you decide to adapt rg to your live/home server

as others have also said the RG community is extremely helpful. ive posted some silly questions in my time and have never been flamed or lit up for asking them as along as i provide as much background info as i am able to etc. just my personal preference but i find posting learning curve questions problems etc to the forums more helpful then the discord as you dont lose your info into the ether =)

welcome to the greatest boxing community in norrath and i wish you all the lucks!!!!

Also you are going to need level two access. You'll want what's on level two. And Enough can't be said about the community here the quality of folks is just next level. We really have a 'community' here in every way.

Why would you want level 2 you ask? Because you get free programs.

How do you get level 2? Buy it in the Red Cent shop (upper right corner of this window) Or have it given to you like stvski just did. But you will need to buy next month, it costs 50 red cents and you have enough right now to buy a few months more if you wanted.

How to get these Red Cents? Make a post with funny, helpful, or other posts like you see here. When you make a post then others read it and if they like it they give you 10 red cents. Remember it only takes 50 for a free month.

While you are level 2 then you also can hand out Red Cents - perhaps to those who have helped you here? Just click the red cent icon on their post. That will give you and them reds. You can red cent other posts 4 x a day. Another way to keep up your 50.

Awesome thank you stvski and others! I am excited to try it out. I guess I need to get to watching these videos!!
It is not difficult, and really depends on how much time and resources you want to invest in it. But is definitely a game changer if you multi box.

I'm not very savvy. I bit off more then I could chew when I first tried using KissAssist and the plugins. Then, I stepped back. and started doing one thing at a time and figuring that out. Then going on to the next step. It is intuitive once you get used to it. Good luck matey. And welcome.

"difficult" is subjective. I will say that there is a much steeper ramp-up period to this than typical software programs that you can normally just "jump in and figure it out". Expect to spend 6+ months before you're proficient at doing all the things. I constantly see posts where people don't understand how the software works or why their character is doing X when it shouldn't. So I don't think I'd use "difficult," I'd say it's more complex. Afterall, you're using a software program built to hack another software program where the latter doesn't want the former to exist.

everquest is bloated and complex and complicated on its own - adding a layer (or multiple) of abstraction (depending on how you want to think of it) inherently makes it more complicated.

having said that, it is doable, some of it takes a bit of time - it does require learning to be patient with yourself because some of the "nitty gritty" isn't stuff you'll figure out over night.

fortunately most of the stuff has resource page with instructions/commands and such - many also have videos which might help - it is a reason why my videos are never intended to be "this is a scholarly breakdown" and instead more of a "let's hang out and show my friend how to do this thing".

unlike many software orgs - the people you're talking to here, by and large, are people who use the stuff *and* hopefully play the game as well.
