Hey guys,

My group is currently MAG/NECRO/ENC - i use healers merc and 2x melee DPS mercs.

I am thinking of trying out a CWTN plugin, if you could only pick one out of those three which do you think would be more impactful / i would get the most out of.

I prob struggle the most with necro being useful in the group either does amazing dps but runs out of mana. or does not much. would the CWTN plugin help make it more sustained?

The mage seems pretty easy to use with kissassist, maybe the enchanter would be more out of it i have been currently just running him on RGMercs

Thanks for all the information in advanced.

Just load up test server and try them all, make your decision on what ones you want - then buy them all anyway

for me kissassist really does well on mez toons like enchanter and bard, and setting up the other bits for enchanter is just about learning about using enchanter

mage is super annoyuing and always summoning things but also fairly straightforward in kiss

so id probably get necro.

but as spunge said, testcopy your toons, install rg test mq, and try em out on the test server for free

ps. install the test mq to its own folder, not on top of your live mq, very bad.

I'd get the one I don't know how to play well. Me, that would be enchanter. But you can try test and see what works for you.

Do the plugins handle lower levels well. 85 is the Max level on my server or are they more designed for live?

I've used all 3 plugins on 50s-60s toons and it functioned perfectly fine.

Each plugin has it's own section, thread, FAQ and command list. Since you can go to test and use any/all of them to pick your fav I'd strongly suggest you go to each of their sections and watch the video(s) as well as read the FAQ.

Why? Because it's faster (and more informative) then somebody else cutting and pasting the those answers in this separate thread.
To answer the OP and based off my personal experience. I think Enchanter is going to be the smoothest ride for you but at the end of the day I suspect you'll abandon your caster trio in favor of a tank/healer/adps that will let you go after harder events and bigger game.

My vote would be enc. The cc is amazing and if you have that down, the group lives =)

To this point: after ~25 years, I know SK pretty danged well. But embarrassingly, all other classes very poorly.

CWTN and, to a lesser degree, trusted KA INI files - have done a ton in helping show me a lot about the basics for them; what/how/when to buff, combat, melee, and more.

Even the startup messages "You are missing [this] spell that's pretty derned useful". Oh? That's a thing? Thank you!

@Maximprime start with cleric, then enchanter, then a tank class

Why do you think I would abandon the caster trio?

I do get jealous of melee sustained dps and not having mana downtime issues for xp grinding.

I only want to play 3 characters max. The mage pet seems the handle tanking pretty well at the moment, I am on a TLP server level 85 so underfoot comes out next month. All the expansions are new to me.

Seems the biggest issues with mage pet tank is no aoe taunt / aggro generation.

Do you think I am going to struggle to continue with the caster group?

You nailed it with: Seems the biggest issues with mage pet tank is no aoe taunt / aggro generation.

This is where the Enchanter is truly going to shine for you. AE mez and Charm pet being automated by CWTN is truly living the "Good Life"
Where I think your future frustration is going to mount is when your doing Group mission content. The Mage pet is a power house but sometimes there's just no substitute for a Real tank and as you get into mechanic heavy stuff like you'll see in Crusaders or Aaryonar (I know those two are super out of date but that was the last stuff I did on live) The mage pet in a Main tank role just isn't going to cut it.
But, I'd advise against just taking my word for it. I've been out of the live game a LONG time now so I could just be outright wrong. There are some super knowledgeable people here who have deeper insights into the Mage pet game then me and it would be worthwhile to see what they have to say.

Enchanter. Maintaining buffs sucks...and I don't think I've ever seen a player enchanter react as fast or as consistently as the plugin. It's super good.

Dots and chain nuking is easy...and it's far less harmful to let dots fade and nukes hit late than it is to miss a mez.

If this a serious question there is only one serious answer. The Tank. The tank always has to eat first.

The SK, Nec, Mag and Shm plugins are very solid and able to handle stuff I have seen groups wipe on.
I have also run the cleric plugins but for grouping content the cleric largely has nothing to do so I have her with melee on just to do something. Now that the cleric is max aa I have been thinking of making a 3rd necro for that sweet alliance dps boost.
I am not sure why but my rog just fails to impress, shes a bit behind the rest in AA's but is around half the dps on trash and a quarter on named even though she has T3 group gear and BS weapons.

Oh cool I didn't know this was a thing I'll have to search for a quick guide on how to set it up
I just went through this myself.

Before doing anything, login to each character and run /testcopy

Then you can copy your entire EverQuest game directory to a new location called 'EverQuest - Test'. Then create a new MacroQuest fold called 'MacroQuest - Test'. Then inside the EverQuest - Test, open the launcher > Advanced Tools > Select Game Version and change it to Test.

Then open RG Launcher and change the MacroQuest dropdown to MacroQuest - Test, then go to Settings and select the location of the new Test folder you created, then Install MacroQuest.

You can copy over any of your INI files and even meshes from your MacroQuest - Live directory. If you use AutoLogin, edit that ini in the Test directory and change the server to test. Then you're good to go and test it out, the plugins will already be downloaded and included on the test build.

I would get the Shadow Knight, Paladin, or Warrior plugin first.
Because you're doing tanking wrong :-P
