Just came back and am putting a group together... I hear mercs are kind of useless now, I have an sk that's like t3 group gear/ GMM non vis, zerker, rog, bard, and my question is would the sk be able to tank fine with a group geared cleric or should I be looking at adding a group geared shm? If I add the shm, will that be enough healing or would a cleric be enough without real slows (just a slow belt)?
 
My opinion is always a cleric. Shamans are nice but I haven't seen many that can keep the tank and others alive like a good cleric
 
If it's pure healing role, Cleric in group gear is fine. If you can get the epic for another health balance that's nice, but not required.

Sham is pretty good healer and their are some nice healer ini's if you're running KA. They add more DPS to your melee group too, but I'd go Cleric if it's your first time using a botted healer. Better heals & mitigation stuff.

Belt proc 'd slow is often enough, but you can have your bard slow if you want too.

I use both cleric and shaman! The cleric can even do some real melee dps with bard songs running. And since the shaman isn't the primary healer he works debuffing and then some dot dps while still tossing HOT and swells.

Yeah maybe eventually, if slow belt works fine with cleric though I'll probably just add a BST instead and swap the rog for zerker.
 
Sham might be worth playing zerker, rog, bard, and sk in group. Don't know much about sham heals, but if you know how to set up debuffing and how to use sham aa abilities to burn then go for it. A cleric is not too dependent on gear. Slap what ever is convenient on him, then bam you have a cleric. I was still wearing Darkened Robe of Living Fungus not too long ago. However, do try to get type 3 augs and rank 2 spells. A cleric in general will not need help healing unless there are stuns, spell haste debuffs, and mezzes present. I would not even worry about cleric's rever ds in your group unless you want to keep the heal proc up.

Thanks, Bigdaddy. My cleric uses KissAssistVer=10.0.4.1.99. Kiss 11 does not work for my cleric, buffs, don't work right, and he will not melee. I can start 11 but after a few min, his target window will start flickering from targeting and restarting my pet. It's like I'm spamming escape and target pet god several times a second. I did notice that my cleric has UseMQ2Melee=1, and have no idea when it does. I also noticed there is no buff info for cleric. KissAssist_Buffs does not have his info. What does the loose do in stick how? wow you have some interesting line up in aoe section. I will send you some mail with questions if you don't mind. Your ini has stuff I have never seen examples of. Would my Role as Healer be preventing me from meleeing.

I don't use MQ2Melee because I never wanted to take the time to figure it out and KISS always seemed to work just fine without it. Your cleric's buffs should show up in the file if he's in the same group as your MA and you start KA with that character targeted. I'm pretty sure that Loose in StickHow just tells the combat positioning to get the character in range for melee using human-like speed and not instantly. And the AOE section is to just preemptively do some group heals under the assumption if we've got that many mobs in camp let's get a bit proactive with heals! Last but not least, to my knowledge, any character will melee if you simply set MeleeOn=1 in the melee section of your INI file. It has nothing to do with the role. Post your cleric's INI file here and I'll take a loot and see if things look OK.
 
if at all possible, i politely suggest to not use mq2melee and KA together. too often it leads to trouble. i'm sure some people have them working together very well, but my experience leads me to suggest that mq2melee is useful for toons you manually control and everything else KA should handle. i'm sure someone will disagree, and that's cool, more power to them and i hope they post and share working examples.

bigdaddy (i feel dirty typing that) is right on the money. these two lines in the melee section of KA should make any toon engage in melee:

the stick section often conflicts with settings in mq2melee, which is another reason i try not to use it with any toon running KA.


@Marnan submitted a battle cleric ini awhile back that has some really good ideas in it for the priest who likes to swing his big stick.
 
Thanks everyone, I picked up a cleric and am now running SK/CLR/BARD/ZERK/ROG - thinking about gearing a bst to go with the group lol. Still trying out best ini's/macros/plugins to use. I am trying KA manual with the SK to manage buffs etc (going to try to turn off MQ2Melee because I think its making me taunt/stick to mobs...), need to find a better ini for cleric (tried auto CLR and not sure if its all that great), bard seems on with the SIC ini, rog using autorog (good to go), and zerker using autozerker (good to go - may need to edit setting because I think hes burning every mob LOL - I was just testing the software setup last night). How do you make groups invis etc?


Also on that note... If I hero a bst, should I just tag him a long in the group for exp at 85 or is there somewhere better to just PL it at?
