I was told that GMs can't go into instances.

That information was incorrect.

Received a warning in /say from GM in instance.

Just thought i would post in case others had same misconception as i did.
 
a GM can come into any instanced zone that they like. I have seen it numerous times.
Last week we were single grouping aug mobs in COA legitimately only to find a GM pop in on us to see what we were doing. With all the GK'ers going around I can only assume that he was there to see if that was what we were doing.
 
We have had "unmarked" GM's pop into our CoA and Demi instances frequently. I know in the past they used to say shit like only GM Admins can enter instances but that is no longer the case.
 
Instances are even easier to keep track of for a GM, since they can isolate who exactly is in there doing what. Technically the guild hall is an instanced zone, but they never have a problem coming in there, I had one come in to give me an item for resolution of a ticket I made about a quest.

And they don't have to be viewable in the area to see what you are doing. If players can figure out how to ghost, it makes sense that a GM would have the ability to do it as well.
 
That rumours stems from the fact that back in the day when guides actually had powers, they generally wernt supposed to be in A: instanced zones or B: zones higher than their level (generally in the 50's)

Very, there use to be some zones , guides weren't suppose to enter at all, even to help people. (forgot which ones now)

GM-Admins could always enter instances. From people I know, Gm-admin have tool to see all instances on server, and who/how many are in the instance.

Back 3-4 expansions there were alot of instance zones. But now there are alot. Plus all people whinning on EQlive about with anguish+ better loot, that couldn't possible get it ( eg some monk with full tbs or tss gear, where top guild hasn't even cleared it yet or only that guild has.)

GM-Admins are the only ones allowed / access to instance zones

Senior Guides and below cannot zone into any instance zone even if they wanted too. they get an error message "you don't have enough to access xxxx" just like a PC would get.

but most GM-Admins when they log into a server are not /anon right away .. so if you do a / all GM when your macroing every 5-10seconds and see a GM-admin online .. i advise you to stop whatever your doing and just sit here till he gets off. ive played this game for 8years now and back in the day when there were server assigned GM's they would be on all the time .. then 6 years go by and no ones hardly ever see's a GM online except to handle petitions.. now .. i have seen more GM-admins online then ever.. at all hours even on sundays ..

point in case .. i was GKing some mobs in an instance zone and GM-demurious got on .. i /gated out and sat in lobby until he was gone -

the only bad thing is you don't really know if there truely gone so you just gotta take that risk, just like everything else we do here .. risk ? reward ? your call
 
They are the only ones allowed to volunatily go into those zones. Guides are not *supposed* to go into instances unless they are working a ticket.
 
Well, just do it the Legit looking way " 1 monk in a instance or 5 toons " ? What looks more legit. 6 people in anguish or 20 ? Like earlier this morning 4 monks afk outside a instance, that looks real legit...
 
gm deodan and gm dijida been popin in our fc instance all night.
just standin there watchin us kil shade king..legit of course...

I have been seeing GM Ysese on the zek server late at night lately. Last night they were no longer showing up on who all gm. I went ahead and sent them a tell to make sure and they replied. I then noticed that I could /target Ysese even though they were hidden and not showing up on /who all gm. Another thing I noticed is alot of times you can /list general and you can see Deodan in the channel eventhough he is hidden.
 
If they do the /invis trick how would you know when they leave???

I can see if you catch them the first few sec's they log on but doubt you would ever know when they log off?

what they going to do, start banning people for sending random tells to them?
