Question - froststone ducats - type 5 augs

so im finally at the point where im fully (or close) geared in ToV gear, and im looking at type 5 augs as my next step. my question is, whats the best way to farm the currency to buy those augs?

are there any helpful macros available for farming them? any guides that people use? i havent been able to find a whole load of info on the subject, so any advice on the matter is greatly appreciated.

you can only get them from the 4 missions - so you would just want to do them when you can. The ToV currency is very slow to earn

prolly Griklor > Seeking > Icebound = Restless

griklor is straight forward and can be cheezed with big burst dps (vid in sig)

Seeking can be cheezed with good dps as well (vid in sig)

Icebound - this is more of team management and mq2events/macro/plugin setup than dps or heals --- annoying until you figure it out then not bad (vid in sig)

Restless Assault - this one is longer, its pretty straight forward except the guy that splits and can reflect 1 shot you. You can wipe and fellowship back and try again tho with this mission, so a little more forgivable once you figure out the split guy (no video, i forgot to do one and no one asked until xpac was basically over heh)

Do the 3 or 4 ToV missions regularly for the +70 augs. If you run the TBL missions as well you will acquire +55 augs twice as quickly (more missions and cheaper cost) that you can use until such time as you acquire the ToV or perhaps the CoV ones.

while +55 is less than 70 , it is way more than a zero in an empty slot.

you might even pick up a piece of evolving chase from flipping FF along the way.

good advice, though i have TBM type 5s in all slots currently. like you say, something in these slots is better than nothing.

I do Grik, Seeking, and Restless Assault. I’ve only bothered doing Kael a handful of times for progression/achievement purposes. I always thought of it as a pain in the ass.

I would do sorcerer and grik back to back in about 18 min at least twice, but sometimes three times a day.

Took me about a month I think. It does seem like slow going at first but you get into a rhythm.

Grik is acting weird for me on the last few missions. He won't come down so I have to battle through multiple adds....sometimes takes 15 mins for him to drop. Not sure if they changed it again or not but he doesn't seem to drop on the 2nd pass any more if you hang out at the end of the log to the right of the fort entry. Still really easy as the adds are very weak but it takes longer now.

On Seeking the Sorcerer...I can't complete it. I burn the first two guys (probably 20 seconds on the first and 45 seconds on the second) but the third guy brings adds and my group gets wiped. My burst DPS is 3M (so decent and not great) but I just can't finish off the last guy before I have 4+ adds that kill my guys. I pretty much suck at trying to use the mechanics of grabbing the drop. I'm using Jande's macro and I get it in my inventory but I cant get it to activate. Tried right clicking / left clicking and for whatever reason, I just can't get it to stick back on the ground with the green aura.

Is the trick to not burn the first mob or do I just need more DPS?

well you need to stand under him when you get the emote - staying in one spot only works if you time starting correct so the trigger emote times correctly for the event.

Grik stand at the small hill just up from that log, trigger when grik hits the gate next to the dwarf. I do it everyday there. Never have an issue, he drops every other time(first one triggers, second drops) usually by second time on ground he dies.

Sorcerer dont burn first mob or first half of second. if you have bard or chanter make them mezz and forget the mechanics. Without the mezz you either have to have REALLY high dps, or follow the mechanics, but pretty easy.

Icebound = watch Sic's vid, load the events he has posted several times here on the forums, = pretty easy win.

Restless is a pain in the butt, but once u push through getting it figured out u can do it every time

Thanks as well arander. I wasn't doing that. So put your guys just up from the log and then say "fight" to the dwarf when Grik is over the gate. Got it.

@Agland think of the circular fort as a clock. I would position my group under his path at about 1145, then wait until grik is between the 1 and 2 hour and say the start words. Have him path over you once, then the second time around he should drop right on you.

@Agland awesome! For the velks mission, use jandes hotkey or whatever you’ve been using to get the ground spawn. It can be in your inventory or in a bag, but you need to right click it. Then, you will have an AE target ring on your curser. Move your mouse anywhere on the screen until it turns green (it works better on flat open areas) and left click.

It doesn’t matter where you have the target ring set, as long as it’s green when you left click.

After you click, don’t panic. It will seem like it’s not working, or the little adds aren’t gravitating towards it, BUT once you have it set they won’t attack for awhile.

I'll chime in with doing Velk/Grik 2-3 times/day. I'll start with Velk, beat down first dude and burn through dudes 2 and 3. Immediately run to Grik (actually, anchor to GH then use GH port back to EW) with no burns and settle for a 2 drop on Grik (rarely, I'll get a 1-drop on Grik with no burns). It doesn't take a ton of time and I hate RA.
