Guide - Fixing delay after mob death

I have read a ton of posts about lag and other various issues, and one thing I found a lot of people saying was that their toon will delay x number of seconds after mob death before showing the overlay message and pulling another mob, saying perhaps KA was slow to exit the combat subroutine and other various theories. This is something I had in common with them, whereas my character would stand for 5-10 seconds doing nothing before the overlay msg and new pull would occur even if this window was on top and not in the background. I experimented with tons of things on my own, as well as trying everything I read to fix this to no avail... until now!

Options>
Display tab>
Advanced button>
*Shadow Clip Plane &
*Actor Clip Plane

These sliders were defaulted in the middle. Moving them lower to the left caused a ton more delay in pulls, it also made them lag horribly when looking at other PC's. Moving the sliders max to the right made my overlay msg and next pull become instantaneous upon mob death, it also made looking at tons of PC's no lag no problem IE guild lobby. After adjusting these it requires a full reboot! You also have to /camp desktop normally, you cannot /ex or /q it won't save them.

Hope this helps a few people other than myself!

so just to understand 100%, maxxing out clip planes REDUCED the delay for you?

seems counter intuitive to me is why I ask.

thanks

Yes that would be my thought as well.

Increasing actor clip plane draws Mobs and PCs that are farther away from you thus increasing load.

Shadow and Actor clip planes yes, couldn't tell you why, and honestly don't care because I don't understand what they actually do. All I know is they were the last 2 options left in the entire game I had not changed and tested, because I've messed around with everything else to reduce load and lag. Never seen anyone post about them, but glad I got curious, because no more delay. Like you I thought more clip plane was bad, so I lowered them first, but that screwed me over for lag, so I tested them in reverse and voila~

I have 0 lag on my NEW GAMING COMPUTER 6TH GEN i7 CPU and all but this should be easy enough to test out in the Guild Lobby

Honestly I couldn't care less about lobby, not bound there and rarely go there, just a side effect I noticed by chance.
I do however care that my puller never stands around anymore! :-D

Thats great. I am just saying the only place I can test this is the guild lobby.

I have no idea why this correlates to the overlay message and pulling script to happen faster.
About the lobby and PC lag, maybe because it's already drawn those other PC's when you zone in that it doesn't slam into lag when they enter your far clip plane.

I just upgraded to the latest KISS version from the latest compile and started having issues with delays between the last kill and the next pull, as well. I'll experiment with the actor clip stuff, but I'm hesitant because I use ISBoxer and all that stuff is configured from in there, I believe.

So I fixed my issue.

I doubt this is happening for everyone here, but I use a SK to pull.

I found that the puller (SK) would hang if upon the end of a fight his dicho spell was still greyed out. He would then sit around and wait for it to pop up before running off and pulling the next mob. I commented out the dicho ability and now the SK runs much, much smoother and more consistently. I don't know what could have changed in this latest kiss version to cause this, but there's some check that's keeping the puller in camp.

I'm also seeing the puller pull, run back to camp (sometimes... sometimes not), and then turn back around and run to engage. This is causing engagements further out from camp than I'd like. The campradius is set to 40. I can post my .ini when I get home, but just wanted to get my general observations out there now.
